DSE Tillett Racing Seats and Brackets

I've been working for some time now on brackets for Tillett seats. I saw these on stradman's car and decided to become a Tillett dealer. I wanted to provide a fully bolt on bracket system for these seats. First things first, ordered the seats in matching suede leather and stitching to match the ACR interior (many options are available). I opted for the B7 full carbon FIA approved seat for the driver side and the B5 with carbon overlay for the passenger side. This allows easier in/out for the passenger while allowing the driver the full support required for the track. These seats are very comfortable despite little padding, they weigh only 8.2 and 9.3 lbs respectively. A summary of seat details can be found on the website: http://www.dougshelbyengineering.com/tillett.html

Once the seats were here I could measure everything and get a good bracket system. The bracket has multiple hard mount locations and also has provisions for a slider system and a 6pt harness. The seats are very thin and can go to the floor so this is the max headspace you'll get with a Viper. I also have spacers to raise the seats back to stock height.

Can the high sided B7 / B6 be used with the OEM belt? Yes, but the belt must be routed through the sides. The bracket includes provisions to mount the OEM buckle, sensors, and wiring.

The passenger side will be the next project, along with brackets for the Gen I, II, III and IV. A passenger occupant emulator is already available for those interested in no codes when removing the Gen V passenger seat (includes passenger airbag on/off capability). Driver side brackets should be available in August with/without eye bolts and if the demand is there I can do generic/blank brackets for other seats. Harness in/out time is less than one minute with everything on eye bolts.

    Thanks
    Doug

Thank you for working on these. Looking forward to getting brackets for my seats. (Tillett B6 XL Screamer) I did order TB-F1 side mount brackets with the seats, would your base bracket work with the those brackets?

Nice work Doug. Good call on the B5 for the passenger, although without the steering wheel in the way the higher sides of the B6 or B7 isn't bad. Doesn't the passenger deserve as much lateral support...
    Can't wait.

Great work as always Doug. Can I ask what are your brackets made of and what is their weight? Also did you use the Tillett seat brackets to fix seat to your floor bracket? Also which slider system would you use?

Doug, the seat cushion looks fantastic.
The seat base eliminates the need for the sub-bar.
My ACR is at the shop at the moment, anyone weight the Teamtech Gen 5 Viper Lap/Sub Anchor Bar?

Thanks... certainly they deserve support but they may not appreciate it. Also with lower sides a wider range of passenger is accommodated but every situation will vary.

Thanks - brackets are .250 thick aluminum and do use Tillett seat brackets and sliders. Weight with spacers installed is about 6 lbs, about 3.75 without.

I have one I can weigh later unless beaten to it.

    Thanks

The Teamtech harnesses and anchor bar were 8 lbs a side when I installed mine a few years ago. Not sure if they changed or not. Heavier than I expected, but I guess that's where you don't want to try and save weight LOL

Best investment I made for my ACR-E, first time I've ever sat in a G5 and my head not be smashed into the roof and that was without a helmet. Needless to say track days with a helmet, were torturous, not any more!!! First time I sat in the seat after getting it all situated correctly (which takes some time) I got teary eyed. I would NO longer need a chiropractor after track days. DSE didn't have the bracket made yet when my seat arrived, I was able to use the ViperExchange lowering brackets that I already had. Obviously some redrilling was necessary. DSE's looks much nicer. I was surprised at how forward I could finally sit!!!!!! It is not the easiest seat to get in and out of, for sure, BUT once you are in it, it is actually quite comfortable. The pads are almost a must, without them you would be sliding in the seat, and they look cool, DSE will work with Tillett to customize them to really make them stand out. I went with a Comp Blue diamond stitch, LOOKS AMAZING!!

I loved the Tillet seats years ago when they first came out and were not available in the US. Found a way to get them here but never was able to get the mounts/rails for them so never ended up buying them and went with other seats in my cars. Have been following them since then and you might be onto something here if you make the mounts for other cars too (Porsche, Corvette, etc.). Wishing you the best these area amazing seats and the mounts look like a work of art!

    Hi Doug,

I don't see the brackets on the site? Like to order 2 driver side brackets for now. I like your idea with pairing with the B5 seats and may go that route but haven't decided yet.
Are the eyelets included with the brackets, if not can you recommend a supplier?

By the way what are the extra holes( red circle highlight) used for?

These aren’t on the site just yet but I’ll email you about getting them. Eyebolts and other hardware are included in the kit, the will come as shown minus the wiring.

The mid holes are for a far forward position which can be achieved with the use of the spacers. The front side holes attach a spacer underneath that compensates for the lack of carpet in the mounting areas (one at the rear is already attached)

    Thanks
    Doug
