Could you imagine being a poor sap that has a Supra on order, when this is $10,000 more? lol

I stole these off FaceBook... but I thought the same thing when I saw them. I just read that it'll be available in something like a dozen different colors with six different interior schemes. My guess is a lot of us will be getting the wives one of these, so we can drive it!! Lol!!

Not a fan of the dash, just seems its try to hard to be futuristic...should have kept more simplistic; Porsche, McLaren or Viper esque...

While the sticker price is very appealing, dealer markup, followed by constant model updates through the model's cycle causes for ridiculous amounts of depreciation. It actually ends up be just as expensive as some higher end cars. Buying used can be a great deal for some late in the models cycle.

Interesting they went with the Dual Clutch Transmission. Wondering what the maintenance costs will be for those who track it.

That DCT is a heavy pig at almost 250 lbs compared to a normal manual transmission that are in ~110 lbs.

With the engine in the rear it will be interesting if its still easy to work on, perform maintenance on it with out a lift etc...

i think the car looks great, rear is a bit overstyled. Sucks no more manual. People are going ape over the starting 60k price but thats the thing, thats the starting price. I have the feeling its going to be a stripped down bare bones one and the only specs worth a damn are going to be 80k+ GM didnt exactly do a good job on the C7Z which had a ton of heat management issues, so now they are moving to mid mounted platform which has greater cooling challenges than a front mounted one. I will remain cautiously optimistic.

I'd say the NSX is dead now, the C8 is what the NSX shouldve been. Who in their right mind would buy a NSX over a C8?

Like the mid engine idea and the super value of the car, but it looks like a Camero. YUCK. Maybe I will like it better by the time the c9 or c10 comes out. Or maybe it will grow on me because there is nothing else under 150k like it.

Read a few articles and watched videos so far and I think they put some very good thought into the car overall, however there are some real world questions which remain to be answered:

    1. Wonder how easy it will be for one person to remove the roof by themselves and how easy it will stow under the rear decklid.
    2. With the average age of the current C7 Corvette owner being 61, does this appeal to the younger generations? If not, Corvette has a big problem.
    3. Why does the GM marketing always talk about putting golf clubs in the car and assume that is where you'll find the Corvette parked most frequently? The video with Jay Leno has the lead designer talking about putting 2 sets of clubs in the rear cargo area. Don't they know millennials don't care about golf? Gen X'ers not so much either. I think they need to think about who they want to attract to the car. Also, an article this AM mentions a large Corvette gathering in the mid west with many C7 owners interviewed. The general opinion was "cautious optimism", but no one had plans to run out and buy one.
    4. That front end..... I would have liked to see something similar to the mid engine Corvette Daytona Prototype they ran in IMSA for a few years which is much more simple, yet functional.
    5. Driver focused cockpit. Nice if you are the driver. Sucks to be the passenger with that sloping console unless you're a small person. Guess I'll just stay in my own little space Mr. Corvette Driver.

    We'll see where this goes.

I can’t imagine a person cross shoppping those two cars. Two completely different packages. A guy wanting a Supra (especially having gone as far as securing one) won’t be interested in the C8 and a Corvette buyer looking at Toyota’s........I don’t think so

Now put the C8 against the NSX and you will have an interesting comparison

I wonder if it has an low engine oil warning light or if they expect the owners to check the oil at every fuel stop

As been mentioned, this car really changes based on the exterior color and the different interiors look very different as well

This is definitely not your standard ‘boring GM’ product

I frequent a video game forum thats mostly filled with the 18-40 guys with far left leaning political views. Their Off Topic forum is a frequent meltdown on current politics. They never talk about cars, or if they do its to discuss the future of electric vehicles and how everything else is dead to them. Yet they have a thread going right now thats nearly 450 replies long about the C8 and the vast vast majority are loving it, saying they cant believe they actually like a Corvette and want one. These are millennials who fit every stereotype of the group and they are talking about a car they love. Thats unheard of. I have no doubt that Ill get one in a few years when they do a Z06, it checks all the boxes for the car Ill park next to my TA. I want a McLaren but the closest service center is 2.5 hours away, so why wouldnt I get the next closest thing and drive it worry free?

I don't know why that struck me funny....I guess it's because I went to the reliability aspect of it, other than the oil change aspect.

With all due respect, I think that you have to look at the whole corporate stance on the car. By that, I mean they are killing off the Camaro. This will cause some younger drivers to "upgrade" if they can to the Corvette or buy a family sedan. They drive the average age lower, kill off one product and make more profit off the remaining vehicle.

Ford, with the Mustang, stands to get a huge windfall if they keep the price low.

Dodge will pick up sales as well in their never ending and relentless sales of special Challengers.

Oh were on the same page. The idea of getting an error code from a random insignificant sensor and having to get it flat bedded 2.5 hours away makes me really question if I

I've been teetering on a 570s or a new McLaren GT. While the fit and finish of this won't be on that level, this is giving me a lot of pause (and I have a McLaren dealer 10 minutes away).

Yes, the C8 isn't a McLaren or a Ferrari, but if you want something fast and somewhat stylish, you really can't come close IMO. The Z06 will be a monster for $100k less.

720s is an entirely different beast IMO

I have never be a Vet guy, although the 62-67 is reel nice. They did a great job on this car after they get the bugs out! I know one thing, they will back a car they built a year old with a bad push rod ? ( resent post ). They have a cool item on the car, when the car approaches a speed bump, when you push a button, it will raise the front end up 2-3 inc. within 3 sec. and will remember over a 1000 locations , by GPS so never have to do that again. Car looks good.

Dodge needs a Mid -V10 to keep up. Wishful thinking.

still too expensive, people who wanted the next gen NSX didnt want it to be hybrid. Shouldve made the hybrid an option. Also would rather have a V8 than the ecoboom wannabe V6TT. C8 interior is far better than the NSX.

    NSX is dead now

Like TehNguyen I like most of the car , but think the back is so Kardashian ----- way too much junk in the trunk for me ( though have to admit being able to put useful stuff in the rear trunk is a benefit,ha?)
