    Strange flashing

So I'm the new owner of a 1999 Viper! It's been a blast so far, but I've noticed that ever Saturday, around 10am, the alarm lights (dash and exterior driving lights) silently flash for about 2 minutes in my garage. Does anyone know what this means??

    These alarms can be quirky.

Does it stop when you press unlock button on fob?

Have you tested car's battery for voltage? A weak battery can cause alarm malfunctions.

Have you tried to reset/clear alarm with key?

    Feel free to call me...317-402-9013

Thanks for the quick response Steve, I haven't tried using the key fob while it's doing this silent flashing (I can try that next Saturday), but the voltage is good on the battery and I have used the key to reset the alarm since owning it. I've also done the procedure where you hold down both buttons on the fob until it honks.

It doesn't particularly bother me, but I didn't know what it meant or if it was a sign of a problem.

What does the voltage read with the car shut off? (read from a voltmeter - not from dash.)

I just have one of those old non digital meters, but it goes past 12 with car off.

General rule of thumb, if wet cell battery, see below. I do not know if anyone has quantified at what level of
voltage causes issues in a Viper. You need more accuracy to know if your battery is charging and holding voltage adequately.

Good...you sound well informed on the alarm.

After you close the doors, watch the LED's on the interior door handles to see if/when they go out. If they stay on indefinitely it sometimes signals a future problem with the EEM.

Lights on the inside go off after a couple mins. Thanks

The part about 10 AM on Saturdays makes me think of some form of EMI playing a role...though I do not have a real answer. Several local owners have had strange alarm malfunctions noted when living very close to TV towers...but, I fo not recall anything like your flashing lights among said reports.

Does your dwelling have a large emergency generator nearby? I ask because these devices are often on a weekly test run schedule.

Have you tried unplugging, then reconnecting the EEM?

No generators or anything like that near me, but the EEM sounds interesting. I haven't unplugged that, but it makes sense to go that route. I'll look into it this week if the battery comes out 100%.

Just an update. The battery is good at 12.6 and the weird flashing has stopped. For now?? lol I'll keep an eye on it.
