Totally believable, and I've heard that before. I took off my lower flywheel cover, washed everything, and waited to see where the oil came from. Definitely oil pan in my case. What complicated my diagnosis was the front of my motor. I had oil leaking from above, which I thought was from the cam position sensor, but it was actually from the valve cover vent tubes. After fixing that issue, and washing everything to start the search fresh, I finally figured it out. Ordered a new gasket and I'll post pics when it arrives.
