    G4 ACR spoiler wing on SRT10

    If I wanted to install a factory ACR wing on my Gen4 base coupe what all is required to do that? Are all the brackets and mounts a direct bolt on affair to the chassis (other than drilling the hatch of course). Thanks for any details you can provide!

    The ACR wing produces substantial downforce.
    The stock rear springs more than likely would not be suitable at speeds over 100mph.

    I've read this and have also read a lot of controversy about this theory. For that reason I am strictly asking what is required to physically attach the spoiler please. I'd rather not re-hash the debate about the extreme downforce crushing the rear of the car so badly that it ruins it beyond mechanical use and State Farm must cut me a check for a salvage vehicle.

    I have been to 120MPH at 18 degree and no problems. This wing dose have base plates to distribute the load.

    GTC-500 wing. That is only 500 lbs down force.

    PartsRack can provide that wing, BUT:

    ....if you plan to add 500 lbs of REAL DOWNFORCE to your brick-like chassis, you better damn-well not poo-poo the need for SOME ADDED DOWNFORCE AT THE FRONT to balance the chassis at speed. FACT. If you go OE G4 ACR Wing as stated, its WORSE imbalance...


    I can give real-time examples of owners at 130-150 mph travelling in AZ, NV, OR, and encounter a mere KINK in the wide-open road. Think Silver State Classic, and Pony Express 100 country....

    What they dont realize is that the front tires get 'skinny' at the front as the contact patch is minimized by Rear Spoiler / Rear Wing add-ons.

    They power thru the kink, but THE CAR STAYS STRAIGHT. Classic "UNDERSTEER" , already a noted Viper issue, now magnified by added rear downforce alone.

    They OHSHIT panic, and lift off, diving the nose. The car now reconnects at front and DARTS in the direction they were under-steering. Most good drivers correct; some soil themselves. Some few lose the car.

    Im not wanting any liability for a customer making a dumb, cosmetic move. So I wont sell just the wing withought a signed discalimer. I dont want to be sued by your estate.....

    Downforce imbalance is just "theory", Jon. He doesn't want to re-hash the subject.

    I have absolutely no issue with a reply like Jon's with real life concerns. The topic I did not want to re-hash was related to all the claims of too much downforce that it will crush the chassis, crush the rear hatch, needing heavier spring rates, etc. (whether true or not) You may have misread my post?

    Nope, didn't misread it. But it looks like you may have misread the post @z20ateU wrote. He didn't say anything about crushing the chassis or hatch or the rear of the car. When you're talking about bolting a surfboard-sized ACR wing on the back of an SRT10 without all the bits that should be on the car with it (including coil-overs with the correct spring rates), the concern is about the way the car will drive/handle at triple digit speeds when hundreds of pounds of downforce are in play. I'm pretty sure that's what he was referring to.

    Nope. I didn't misread at all. I already have coilovers here with different spring rates...which AGAIN, is why I have no interest in discussing this portion of the install. And again, this is a HIGHLY debated item which is why I don't want this thread to turn into another debate. All I asked about was the install process itself. You were the one with a smart comment mocking me about rehashing the subject with nothing valuable to add to the thread. It appears as though you have a bone stock viper so that explains why you have nothing of value to add. I will wait for the next thread you start asking about bone stock Vipers and be sure to add my $.02. Thx

    Jon, thanks for the reply. I do appreciate your experience and opinion. The rear downforce setting the car off balance I can definitely believe to be true. I do have plans to do both the front and rear for this reason as well as cosmetics. I think the rear alone is a bit too aggressive to NOT have a front splitter. I'll keep you in mind when i'm ready to make a decision. Thanks again.

    All correct, that is why I added the front splitter and 2008 KW ACR suspension front/rear. Some day I may do sway bars.

    Pretty straightforward. If you do buy one send me a PM and I can give you detailed instructions from the Prefix manual that shows how to install all the ACR aero. Mike

    Yep....and as of a few months ago, boxes with the "non-ACR" SRT10 strut part number on them had the ACR part numbered struts inside. I tried to find SRT10 struts at several Dodge dealerships and with Jon B. All the same thing.

    I’ll qualify some things here and painfully admit I too have a stock ACR problem;( the stock ACR going into a high speed kink does have significant front end lift that needs settling with a little tap of the brake to shift the weight even with aero to plant the fronts for the most efficiently to hit the turn without pushing the front through the turn. On the exit of the turn the backend squats with the aero that help to keep the ass from going around. Now... if you’re not tracking the car on a road course and doing straight line stuff I seriously doubt a wing on the back is a concern as you will just keep pushing the back down throughout the run and as long as you don’t do anything stupid or it’s not super windy you’ll be ok. If you will be challenging a road course or ripping high speed canyons then take the aforementioned warnings seriously. You won’t crush the car you’ll find oversteer and understeer unmanageable at some point and none of us want to see a viper owner hurt. Yes a lot of smart asses here including me with the penny car (miss those things) but, but, we actually care. No need to internet fight just think...

    Why would there be a part out thread? Give me a break. This car makes a weak ~530 whp which is complete childs play. My other 900+ whp cars put this car to shame.
    The only reason there would be a part out thread is because I'm bored of the car.
    This is kind of like going to Burger King and ordering a chocolate milkshake and having the cashier tell you over and over that you really want and need a Double Whopper. The environment in this thread kind of reminds me of the typical Corvette owner responses I have seen in the past, where an owner purchases a car right off the showroom floor and thinks it is the best thing since sliced bread that should never be molested or modified because it is as perfect as can be. To each their own, but I like to tinker with my toys and a stock car is not impressive to me. Nor am I normally impressed with owners that have no experience tinkering either.... Sorry, but the truth hurts sometimes. There are thousands of Vipers out there that have been heavily modified with great success and perform much better than a factory example. There is no need to be scared.
    I do appreciate everybody's sincere concern for my safety, but I also find it a bit odd that so many feel the need to project their thoughts and concerns in a thread that is specifically asking for other information.
    Only a few folks have actually provided a response in-line with what I had originally asked for help with, and for those few, I appreciate the responses! Sincerely.
