    Question Caring for Alcantara

    Hey there,

I keep looking at the miles of alcantara and thinking that unless treated with kid gloves this is not going to wear well.

What are your experiences with the steering wheel and seats (particularly the bolsters).

Also what treatment / cleaning products / methods have you found that work please?

Thanks as usual VOA brain trust!

I've used some standard leather cleaning and protective products a couple times since I bought my gen V and it seems to be fine. But I'd be interested in what the pros have to say (particularly about the bolsters as well!).

When I went to the Griot's flagship store in Tacoma they said I should use a damp microfiber cloth and wipe the alcantara to clean it. You can rub it lightly with a dry microfiber when you are finished. I have been doing it for 3 years on my Viper and it is holding up well and looking like new.

Sonax has a alcantara specific cleaner/conditioner.

    This.

Been using Sonax on my Cadillac's alcantara steering wheel/shifter for a few years now. Works well.

I wipe down my Alcantara steering wheel and seats with a damp black microfiber towel. They still look new at 8k miles.
