I'm looking for an RT/10 windshield. It was my understanding the new batch was for GTSs.

I don't know about this one, but all of the 'mopar' sites that I researched (and there were many) say they're in stock, but don't actually have them. They're currently on 'back order'. Mine was being covered by insurance. I went with an aftermarket OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) windshield. I've had them on my daily drivers. They're not OE, but I now have a windshield I can see out of.

Yup, it's all automotive click-bait! Somewhere in inventory management, there must have been a windshield that perhaps got damaged and discarded but never got removed from the system. That elusive windshield will always be "In Stock".

I called my dealer yesterday and was told the system says the Manufacturer had a delay. Really!! New ship date as of yesterday shows 9/3. We will see.

I've got a large crack in mine in front of the passenger seat and a chip slightly above it.......Safelite has me on the "waiting list" to pony up my $1000 deductible. Also, can't get my a/c fixed because Dodge discontinued the suction line.

    Part # I have for GTS/ACR is: 4897573AA

I think I am just going to give Optic Armor a try, its a lexan window but they say they offer a drop in with the black painted surround.

Plastic windshields suck. They will haze almost immediately.

  18. #43
That is true but Optic Armor is supposed to have some type of coating to prevent that. Its not just some plastic cup windshield

they still scratch. I have their windows in my comp coupe. The anti scratch coat makes it better, but I wouldn't try it on a street car

Windshields made from polystyrene? Plastic drink cup polymer? Huh? Da fudge?

I hope you don't think that someone has figured out how to prevent polycarbonate - what non-drink cup windshields are made from - from scratching. It will scratch. It will haze. Quickly.

Any update? Did guys get your windshields???

No...I have looked around since August and I cannot get anything in Canada. Sure, some scalpers out there etc, but my insurance doesn't cover scalpers. Dodge took my money for one then called me a few days later saying no go. A fellow facebook group member had his Dodge dealer friend in Canada look for me and no go. Safelite is no longer available or making them. I think I am going to get a polycarbonate windshield from racingshields.com. No, not my best options, but it is an option none-the-less...and even if I can get some years out of it before it scratches and fades and yellows, well at least I have a windshield unlike now!

Has anyone contacted Pilkington glass? they make bespoke Automotive glass (according to their website).

There is a toll free number to call https://www.pilkington.com/en/us/aut...ngton-classics

If no one is making these anymore, they may be interested in producing some? There are None in the UK or Europe!

Lets face it, there are still thousands of Vipers out there!

Even if they made a batch of a 100, I bet they would fly off the shelves.

I did notice there are two different part numbers for the GTS Screen and the RT/10 Screen on Gen 2

So caution is needed that the correct screen is supplied.

    RT/10 PART NUMBER Gen II = 04897447AA

GTS PART NUMBER Gen II = 04897573AA

OK, got an email back from Pilkington, they did not produce the glass for the Viper and do not have those screens patterns.

So which company made the Glass for the Viper? I doubt it was Chrysler/Dodge, they would have outsourced the Glass?

So what happens with Insurance? Cracked screen, Glass needs to be replaced, No screens available......Do the Insurance companies write off the car?
