My 97' GTS came with an SCT tuner from Roe with the following modes "low octane" "high octane" and "DYNO mode." BOTH of the previous owners just ran DYNO mode at all times without any issues. However, the highest octane i can get here in New Mexico 91. I think the previous owner had access to 93. I am getting some mild backfires/poping at idle which was not happening with previous owner in Arkansas. I was told by numerous people that the backfires is nothing to stress over and the car is likely running a little rich (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).
What does Roe consider low and high octane?
Should i just continue to run on "DYNO mode?" On DYNO MODE It currently feels great, smooth power, etc. IT'S A BEAST.
The SCT tuner was programmed with the following mods
-Headers
-Smooth tubes
-Corsa exhaust
-172 thermostat
-Gen III tranny
