Viper Model Differences and Specs Base GT GTS

I stumbled across FCA's Media Website and found their media press kits that includes all the specs and differences between models. I was surprised to see that the Base model has a different (I think better) 6th gear and lower spring rates than the GT & GTS models. Anyways, I thought this was good info and wanted to share. I have an SRT model and wish I had the 0.50 ratio for 6th gear. This would bring the idle below 2000 rpm at 70 mph, which would bring cabin noise down for long highway drives!

I do want to switch to the 0.50 ratio, does anyone know where I can order this?

You and me both. The seats are more comfortable, better hood. Adjustable suspension doesn't mean much to me. I would always be in the wrong mode anyway. The SRT suspension is quite comfortable for me. I knew that 6th gear wasn't much of an overdrive gear...just had no idea there was a difference in models. Nobody ever pointed that out to me when I was looking.

It's funny, i don't get all the cabin noise that a lot talk about at 2000 RPM. After seeing the difference in trans, I thought the reason why was because of the .63 6th.

I weighed my 15 srt at a truck scale with my 3-piece forgelines @ 3360lbs (fuels was a little under half, maybe 40% fuel left). Car also has 18-speaker HK audio system. Surprised its lighter than the track pack srt (2-piece rotors & SWII wheels).
I did remove the stock mufflers and secondary cats tho. I'm really curious how light i can get the car with the GTD forgelines and two piece rotors all around.

belanger exhaust reduced and shifted the drone to a different speed, an option if you havent done this already

Prior to 2015, both the SRT and the GTS had the shorter 6th gear ratio. The drone in my 2013 GTS did get painful on road trips longer than an hour or so. I'm really glad it was revised because my 2017 is so pleasant on long road trips comparatively. I haven't ran into a situation outside of cruising that I need 6th gear (impossible to hit it on most race tracks unless you're doing 1/2 mile + racing) so I don't care that it is taller. The noise benefit and the added fuel efficiency are welcome.

I guess that's the beauty of the Gen V Viper - everyone loves it in all different flavors.

I don't have a link but the 13 Track Pack had an advertised weight of 3,296 lbs and the 14 TA was 3,350. They kept adding sound deadening, seat padding, and speakers every model year to appease the masses.

You are correct about the weight for the 13, and not far off with the 14 TA (3390).

Thanks for finding the official specs. It’s interesting seeing the difference in dry vs curb weights. I’m actually skeptical how Dodge got the weights for the 14 and 15 TAs now. They’re both listed as 3,390 from your posts but the TA2.0 spoiler has got to weigh more than the 1.0 one. Nothing else changed between them so... hmm

I like my 6th gear. MUCH more usable than 6th in my Gen 3. Of course, I don't get as good mileage cruising at 70, but, hell, I don't care!
