First track day in 2017 ACR E

I've had the car for about 1.5 years and have done a couple of Auto-X in it which were a lot of fun. While I have plenty of track experience from a former life track testing cars it's been a while since I've taken my own car to the track and I think the last time I drove one in anger was about 3 years ago at an open wheel school.

Toronto Motorsport Park (nowhere near Toronto BTW) is only 1.8 miles and you just touch fourth gear in a couple of spots so it's a nice place to get to know a car. Lots of run offs and only one wall too.

Holy heck the ACR is a weapon! The mechanical grip is insane and what is a jittery too-stiff suspension for a lot of winding country road type stuff seemed strangely compliant on this bumpy track. The car is fairly low though not at track height and the dampers are in the street setting...which was probably good for this rough short track.

Funnily enough I'd just removed the track extension on the front and I didn't remove any of the vents figuring the speeds weren't high enough except in one long corner for it to make any difference. Also, being the first time out in this car I was taking it easy.

All the same it just reeled in the exotica! What a machine! That said, the BAC Monos just blew past!

Other highlights are the steering, shifter and ease of heel-and-toe rev matching. Genuinely impressed. Was annoying, however, to have to keep explaining that the diffuser is designed to make contact with the track surface...

Pics are courtesy of Lucas Scarphone (the guy to get to take track shots in Canada) and track day was in support of The Starlight Foundation.

    Excellent...glad you were so impressed!

You're now ready to join some other ACR-E and TA owners on the Grand Prix track at Mosport where you'll be able to appreciate the aero. Here's the link to the Speed Therapy days that a number of us do. I'm pre-registered for all their dates. Swing by to check it out or register to drive yourself.

    Hope to see you there!
