Heads Cam Exhaust Cost and Output

Greetings, I've been absent here (and the previous Forum) for a long time though still have my 2006 Bumble Bee Paxton coupe purchased from and only serviced at Woodhouse. Turned 64 and I've made a number of changes this year in the garage consolidating and I've sold my bike, my original early GT350, getting ready to sell my fresh 68.5 car and considering selling my Viper and picking up a Gen5. I'm beginning to catch up here after all this time, but what are the cliff notes on approximate installed cost at the best shop on the best heads, cam, headers, exhaust, and true rear wheel numbers for a very limited use street car?

    As always, thanks

viper exchange stage II heads and cam package, you get a 1 year warranty on it. Get about +100rwhp over stock

The big viper shops that are successfully installing & tuning gen v heads cam exhaust builds, in no particular order, seem to be:

    1) A&C Performance
    2) Calvo Motorsports
    3) RSI
    4) Bad Boyzz Garage
    5) Viper Exchange

I would recommend calling each shop to get a quote. There's a wide range of prices and services offered by those shops for h/c/e builds.

I'm surprised to see RSI on that list.

A&C and Calvo can get you about 700whp, Viper Exchange can only get about 650whp. All seem to cost about the same.

I believe only VE is offering the Arrow package.

RSI and Bad Boyzz over Prefix/Arrow?? LOL. Prefix built my 9 liter, 730whp, been tracking it HARD for 1.5 years now no issues.

You can go anywhere in the country and find gas if you have the arrow kit.

I'm waiting to hear the A&C kit in person. Hope the guy getting his done hits the road course too. We need more owners doing H&C and taking it to the road course. Hopefully some with the A&C kit!

To be fair, he said “in no particular order.” But your experience is certainly a ringing endorsement for Arrow, hard to argue there’s any sense in going elsewhere.

A&C is in Cali so they probably tune the cars to 91.

Go one step further, if we are taking about G5 engines running on the OEM pcm, Arrow probably has over 100 cars on the road. If a decision is made find out how many G5's the shop has done and get a couple of references.

Agree. If/when I go down this road, I will want to see a finished car in the flesh and go for a ride. I’d even fly somewhere if necessary before committing. I’ve had too many highly modified cars that weren’t 100%, and I wouldn’t risk that with the Viper.

Hey everyone, thanks for the corrections. My intention was to give the OP a place to start. I was shopping for a h/c parts kit a month or so ago and found it was best to simply call each shop and amass my own data to make my decision.

I've been watching these companies and kits because this is on my wish list.

That list should read in no particular order:

    1. Arrow/VE
    2. Cavlo
    3. Nth Moto

Sorry but based on member posts and reviews I wouldn't send my car to any other shop! Those three shops not only seem to build a quality product but they also seem to stand behind their product and their customers needs. Having seen a few member cars on here that road race with Arrow's H/C kit it seems rock solid. Having seen AzViper's 9.0L on the track and knowing how he drives that motor is pretty incredible!

I had Viper Exchange install a heads/cam kit on one of my cars and Todd at A&C Performance install his heads/cam/F1X kit on my other. I would highly recommend Todd at A&C Performance. His customer service is second to none. I personally had a horrible experience with Viper Exchange/Andy Wheeler.

    Calvo
    NthMoto
    VE

    In no particular order.

I also have had Todd install his heads and cam package on my Viper and the performance and the sound at idle is amazing. Todd also provides excellent service during and after the install. I wouldn’t hesitate to go with Todd.

I think the first step when deciding on a shop to do H/C I think it's important to first decide what you are going to use the car for. Drag racing, dyno queen, road racing or a street car that gets some spirited driving?

By far it seems for serious driving either track or road Arrow has by far the best record for performance AND reliability.

Calvo, VE, Nth Moto, A&C are all great options. Calvo will be doing my car.

I had the Arrow stg 2 heads/cam installed by VE 1 year ago. I had a great experience working with Andy/VE. My car was in/out in 3 days, with 1 day spent waiting on the PCM to/from Arrow. Unfortunately, that car was totalled in January.

I just purchased another Viper and rather than do the exact same build, I chose Nth Moto this time around. I should have the car next month and will be sure to post my review.

I had VE stage II heads/cam on my ACR. If I do another gen5, I’d have Calvo do it. Or buy a Calvo resale. Or a Prefix built 9.
I felt the VE experience was wanting, in both purchase exp on the car and performance, although I like Andy very much .. he’s not the one turning wrenches.
In my experience, I was getting some valve float, and so some power loss at RPM. I liked the VE build because it’s a Prefix Kit, but it is not a Prefix build. IMHO, there’s a huge difference in a VE install of a basic Prefix HC pkg, vs Prefix doing a rebuild with a 9.0 or extreme, huge difference. Just my 2 cents.
