i used Montway a few years ago to ship a Vette from Colorado to Cincinnati. The process went smoothly with good communication from the driver as well as on time pickup and delivery. Inner City and Reliable are well know shippers as well.
I will also recommend Montway. They handled my viper with care from FL to MI.
FrankBarba is a member on here who transports cars, here's his profile- https://driveviper.com/forums/members/275-FrankBarba
What’s a typical transport cost? Is it per mile?
Are we talking in the ballpark of $1000 from, say, FL to TX?
Depends on where in Texas to what destination in Florida?
El Paso to Key West , for example, would be way higher than that ,imho.
Montway is who I plan to use this week when my car comes from PHX, AZ to BTR, LA. Enclosed trailer put it right at $1100 for a 1400ish mile trip. You can always price it on UShip and then go direct to the carrier. But Montway and Autos on the Go were the best rated and cheapest.
Call Rashad at RJ Elite Transport, he's hauled 2 of my vehicles to Detroit and back to Florida for me in the past, very reasonable and very dependable. 919-607-5463
I have used Frank Barbara and his service was excellent. Highly recommend him.
I have also used Reliable Carriers and was very happy with their service as well. I would use them again if Frank was unavailable.

I've heard great things about Frank Barba, and he's been in the Club forever, so he would be my first pick. If he's booked up, I know a company that used to move my cars back and forth from CA to OR for me a ton of times as I migrated back and forth, and they never disappointed. They're called Angels Moving Autos and I believe they farm the work out to subcontractors (never had the same guy twice). They always did a fantastic job, and they always showed up with a truck full of very cool high-end cars...
Definitely go with someone very reputable. Moving things across state lines is highly un-regulated and you can get screwed. We just did a "budget" move from up north down to CA and got held hostage by the moving company that decided to throw a ton of crazy fees at us. Long story short, it was a nightmare and there is NOBODY that can help unscrew it. Make sure whoever you use will take a credit card and they don't demand cash on delivery....
InterCity Lines all the way.
Ive always used Reliable with excellent results!
EXECUTIVE AUTO TRANSPORT, LLC.
Save yourself the frustration and call the best. Call Roy Sewell direct as he is the owner. Roy has handled multiple moves for me across the country including WA to MA and AZ to MA. Roy has been in the industry for years and was the ace contact at another company that had been mentioned above before going out on his own a year or two ago. CALL ROY!!!

Tell him Jeremy from the "Viper Club" sent you.
Call Frank Barba, first , since he is a Viper Owner and a sponsor. If he can not assist you , Reliable, Passport, Intercity , are all very good choices and we have used all of them over the past 25 years with solid success. In many cases where you hear of one or the other taking longer to get there than the consumer likes, please take that with a grain of salt as in almost all cases it will not be super rapid by any of them. When it occurs really quickly it is almost entirely due to the fact that the carrier happens to have someone near by and it just works out ( 2-4 weeks is the norm).
Intercity , for instance is very good on the East Coast as that is where they are situated . Passport, in the middle of the US , does well there and Reliable often has the best Coast to Coast service because they have terminals in LA, Phoenix, Orlando, Canton, Michigan and New Jersey.
Everyone has their favorites and Barba should be your first choice but all the others are solid , just stay away from many Brokers as they just work on selling the customer the cheapest price and that could mean numerous transport changes , with some being open trailers -- seen this happen too many times.
Frank is a member and sponsor, give him a shot first.
If that doesn't work out, I have always had excellent luck with Reliable. Transported nearly 100 vehicles with them and never had an issue.
13 Cobra ------ good comment as your Dealership and ours have both done a ton of movement with Reliable , and like yours we have never had an issue. That said , like you, we suggest calling Frank first.
Lastly ..................now ,why the heck are you an Enthusiast , you need to get your membership back up ( heh, I know you can write it off as a Business Expense, ha,ha)?!?!
PS - are you going to run the NASA Event at Heartland Motorsports Park on the 25-26th of this month?

I currently have no transports going west. All have been North & South. I will have to pass on this transport.
Thank you everyone for your recommendations. We certainly have fun transporting and meeting new owners and
the Big Grin that is accompanied by the delivery...
I just had mine shipped from Pheonix to the middle of IL (~1600 miles) via Montway. Process went smooth and I'd use them again if I had to. I think it was around $1,400 and they had the car delivered in < 2 days (although I'm guessing this time frame is not normal).
Montway is the fastest.
call john 417 429 8468 he is 5 cents a mile , fully enclosed and your the only car , he picked up my Redeye , great guy
