    Battery opinions dealership vs aftermarket

$400 dealership battery vs $200 battery elsewhere.

Anyone have opinions on this? I’d love reassurance that a $200 battery is just as good if not better than an “overpriced dealership” battery, but also if it’s juts truly worth the 2x price then I’ll just break and buy it LOL

Get the $200 battery and save $200 for when you need another one. $400 is a total rape.

^^^ This. My car showed up with a dead battery and we literally had to go find a replacement to get it out of the trailer when it was delivered. No local dealers had anything in stock, so I was forced to go with a Group 47 Duracell from Batteries Plus. It has been great. Lithium Ion scares me for some reason (probably because I've had my older Samsung Galaxy phones feel like they are in some sort of meltdown mode in my pocket at times).

Sounds like you got it worked out. I got a brand new Mopar viper specific battery from my local dodge dealer for $150. I have no idea why your dealership wanted $400 for one.

Go with an interstate for less dough. I just installed one in my Maserati and I'm satisfied.

I use a Duralast T5 Gold battery (T5-DLG) from autozone which was $150. It fits, has better specs than the stock battery, and comes with a three year no receipt needed warranty.

I tend to buy Walmart batteries for everything. Never had a problem, never had a problem, but if I did there's always a Walmart close by.

Careful some of their batteries are con compatible with the vipers BCM. Their ATX-30 did not work. After a number of discussions they recommended that I try another of their other models but I just left it at that....

Go aftermarket. I found out the hard way that the warranty on the mopar batteries is crap. I was told the battery had to be IN the car for them to honor the warranty on it. Uh, if my battery isn't working how am I going to get it to the dealer??

There is a way to get around that - hook up one of the portable jump starters to the battery and once the car is running, it'll keep running. With the battery in the trunk, it's fairly easy to just leave the jump starter attached "just in case". That will get the car to the dealership, and hopefully they have a replacement in stock.

I went with the autozone battery for the sake of convenience and as my original battery was dying..Has slightly better specs than OEM and the top vent.

also get a battery tender if you dont drive often, it will extend the life of the battery and you wont have to jump it if its been a while
