    New viper owner

I very recently sold my BMW and found a great deal on a viper. I had been wanting a Viper since I was a little kid. I'm VERY excited to finally have one. It's a 1998 GTS with 34k miles. It hasn't been well maintained at all, it has a horrible misfire, oil leak, service engine light, etc. I think the tires are the only thing that have ever been changed. It has the original wires, plugs, and belt. It rained all day yesterday so I was able to spend some time with it in the garage. I changed the oil, pressure sending unit,, belt, idler pulley, O2 sensors, plugs and plan on doing the trans fluid today.

Definitely change the wires also. That is the first thing recommended to me by a Viper tech when I bought an '02 with lower mileage quite a few years ago.

Congrats on the car and welcome! Awesome color/stripe combo! It's nice to see a neglected viper get some TLC.

Looks great, I’m sure it’ll be running great in no time.

Thanks guys. The stripes are vinyl. I wanted a blue w/ white stripe (like everyone else). But the price was too good on this one. I've always had red cars, so the tradition continues.

The stripes have a couple flaws. So, I'll have them removed and if the paint has a "ghost" stripe I'll have fresh ones put on.

FYI ... Silver Stripes were stock on the 1998s ...
