    Drivers door

    Hi Guys,

I just purchased a 2001 GTS. The drivers door won't open from the outside. Works fine from the inside. Any incites?

    Thanks

Take an air hose and blow out around the push button. Then with one of those red straws squirt some WD40 in there.

If that does not work it could be the switch inside the door. Parts Rack sells replacements but they are a bit of a pain to swap. It could also be the wiring in the door jamb which is easier to fix than the switch but if the inside handle works I would not suspect it first.

Most likely a broken wire in the harness between the door and the frame.

Rubber cover for several wires can be pulled back.

I cut mine open .. probably not the best plan ... repaired and them taped back ...

    Solder a new 3 " section ...

    Happens a lot.

If both the outside and inside handles are not working then likely it's a broken wire. If only the outside is not working it's probably the switch.

If you get stuck outside the car, you can open the rear hatch with a key then reach in and pull down the manual door release lever in the pillars.

Both the inside door handle and the outside button are electrically operated

Thanks guys. It's just the outside handle that doesn't work. I can hear the solenoid when I pull the inside handle so I assume its the switch not the wiring.

It could still be the wiring. My inside didn't work, but the outside did when I bought the car. It was the wiring. If you look at a wiring schematic, they are completely separate wires that go to a module inside the cabin if I recall correctly.
