New Viper Owner

Last Friday I officially became owner of a 1994 Chrysler Viper RT/10 which I imported from Germany !!

After 25 years of dreaming of the Dodge Viper RT/10 , I finally bought my own !!

Jon B from Viperparts helped me a great deal in deciding whether I should import a Viper from the US or just find one in Europe, which I finally did and I am glad, because it would have been very difficult, expensive and time consuming to do this !!

My car is in perfect condition, just one owner from 1997 and just 23,000 km (about 14K miles).

The car is actually a Euro spec car with side markers, dual exit rear exhaust (very strange that the side exit pipes car closed off) , central rather than door seat belts, and Euro instrumentation !!

Based on the feedback from Jon B, my car has the magnesium 4 rid intake which is very desirable, but based on this board I read that it must also have intake restrictors to reduce power...

So for now I am thinking of the following mods : make side pipes functional, remove intake restrictor, maybe put K&N air filters and straight rather than ribbed intake tubes.

Looks like the right side of the hood didn't quite get latched down squarely. You will find the rear exhaust will sound better, But the cool factor of the side exhaust can trump all!! Congrats!

Congratulations on your Viper. It's a beauty. Like 99RT10 said, one side of the hood is not latched properly. When closing the hood, put your hands about 10-12 inches up (near the cross member support shown in your pic with the hood up) from the lip and push down firmly. Again, congrats!

Bill, with regards to the front hood, I watched numerous times Youtube videos before I was able to open and close the hood (actually Doug Demuro was very helpful !! LOL) and I think I am doing it right. I believe it might need some adjustment.

The funny thing about my Viper is that I could not figure how you open the rear trunk, because the Euro license plates in the back are wider than US plates, and apparently the key hole is covered by the rear licence plates, so there is a fordable base for the licence plates... (Flemming Ultimate Garage on Youtube showed me how !! LOL)

Also, I was trying to find out how you open the gas cover (I thought there was some locking mechanism) but it as pretty straight forward, you just use your finger nail...

After extensive research I found it...

The “green doohickey” was a small, green protective cap installed on Viper frames’ grounding post used for jump-starting or charging the battery. The cap was installed to prevent paint from sticking to the post during the painting process and was left on at the assembly plant. It doesn’t carry a part number, as it’s not technically a part. However, every Dodge Viper RT/10 built from 1992 through 1996 was equipped with one. Many dealers and owners threw theirs away, though, and it’s impossible to replace because it doesn’t carry a part number. But since this doohickey came with the car, it could be the difference between a 99- and 100-point Viper.

The car is here alright, but I already had my first small accident.
I did not have the owner's manual, so I did not properly secure the soft fabric roof at the front... and at 40 mph it flew off...
Luckily the car was undamaged, but the roof was...

I just now saw this thread..... Im glad to hear all the researching paid off. I wish I had seen the hood/top photos sooner, OBVIOUS install / closure issues. In anyc ase: CONGRATS MAKIS !!!
