    front fascia

If you look in the crappy parts book for the Gen 2 there are 2 front fascias listed. One for competition group - 5015296AA - and the normal one - 5014539AB. I think it has always been assumed that the one billed as competition group would not have the fog lights. I couldn't stand it any more so I bought one to find out.

    Came nicely packaged. Well boxed.

    Boom. Fog lights.

    20190322_154355.jpg

I'm surprised it was made as recently as 2014. Most of the NOS panels I've seen are way older.

    Now for the good part.

Internet price for this was about $100 cheaper than wholesale dealer pricing. Plus my dealer informed me that FCA is now charging $200 core charge on these. So it was $500 vs $800 at the dealer. Shipping was $130 for the internet piece and no tax, but at the dealer I'd pay tax but there is no shipping. So final price is $630 internet vs $865 dealer. I see people paying $500 or more for used ones before shipping costs are added. Are those the same people that in total ignorance scream viper tax at new parts?

    Have a great day.

I wish the seem below the fog lights was actually a separate piece. The seem is there anyway and the lower part always gets damaged easily so why not make it separate and easy to replace!! That's my only complaint on the Viper body design.

Or use a track fascia for display. Many uses for all these parts.

So what does set it apart from the “normal” part number?

I have one of those rear light panels in my junk pile. Actually not bad shape at all. Just has an extra hole where the PO mounted a BU camera. Would probably be costly to ship but definitely wall art or budget rebuild material. I bought it for all the lights and wiring harnesses.

I'd be curious what prep steps were taken. I could see that if they did nothing more than a prep wipe and hit it with the top coat. But find that hard to imagine if a scuff and sealer step were involved. But then again we could be talking about people that went with low bid and got bit by you get what you pay for.

Dave , I always assumed that the nose piece you purchased was specifically for the ACR. Parts in the manual typically reference Competition group when referring to the ACR. Iv'e seen that myself and always wondered if there was a minor variance in the front facsia of the ACR vs. standard production?

I haven't found a difference yet. There's only one core support and one hood and one rebar and one support foam and one inlet duct and one headlight etc between the ACR and other models so it befuddles me that there is otherwise a fitment or feature difference. I'll probably test fit it on the car one of these days to get a visual.

I can honestly imagine that one day someone somewhere that was making parts for the Viper grabbed the wrong mold and the parts became the same. Then the other mold was thrown away because no one knew what it was for.

I've done a lot of parts research over the years by simply ordering a part number and crossing my fingers to see what I actually received. In conclusion, anything is possible.

Hi Dave….did you ever find any differences? Same facia? I know this is an old thread….. thank you.

Throwing this out to anyone that ordered the facia for the ACR, have you seen a difference in it from a regular facia?

Did you bother to read this thread? The part where I said I bought both and there's no difference between them?

You just can't make this stuff up.

Your last post says “ I haven't found a difference yet” which TOTALLY implies your still looking. Or we’re still looking. Perhaps you found a difference and just never updated the post? That was my intent in asking. I’ve read your posts, I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt…just keep being you. Your a joy to be around.
