    Fire Extinguisher Bracket

    Good Morning Viper Crew!

I posted something a while back about where to find a bracket for a GenII and also which fire extinguisher.

My next question, as I am finally getting this this spring once out of storage, is what type of fire extinguisher?
    - The Chemical/bicarb Powder fire extinguisher
    - Which I heard can ruin electronics and damage sensitive areas as well as a mess to clean
    - Turns into a paste and gets into everything
    - The Clean Agent Fire Extinguisher
    - No thermal shock to electronics
    - No mess or damage to vehicle or surfaces
    - Liquefied gas extinguishes hard-to-reach fires

The choice seems simple to me, which is the clean agent, but I wanted to see what others are using who may have more experience.

I use Halotron extinguishers in all of our Vipers.

Which mode/type do you use? Chemical/or clean agent?

This is the one I was thinking about getting.

I just went through this the other day. I had a footwell mounted fire bottle in my last street/ track car as well (the one I just sold to get the Viper). No question, hands down, you want a Halon type fire extinguisher. Amarex, Clean Agent, Halotron, etc. Expensive but it wont ruin the things it is sprayed on. Look towards Speed Tactics for your Gen2 bottle mount. that's the one I just ordered; have not received yet.

In my race cars I've run AFFF style fire systems which may be slightly more effective, but those cars have stripped interiors so they are easier to clean if you activate that type of system.

I use the 2.5 lb model...mounted to floor in front of passenger seat which makes it easy for me to reach it.

Thanks for the information! That's what I am leaning towards, I just wanted others input.
This is the one I am thinking of:

The 2.5lb isn't too big? I was looking at the next size down I believe.

I think you will be fine with the 1.4lb bottle for this application. That is what I just ordered. I had the 2.5lb in my Miata, but that car was being flogged 10/10ths on track. For the Viper it's mostly there for piece-of-mind.
