Need asphalt help

I had a new home built, so new driveway...but I have water coming up through the driveway. This started this winter, so anytime it is above freezing the pics show what is happening. I need to understand what/where the problem is as I have never seen this before nor has anyone else that I have talked to. There is so much water coming up that it puddles. The water and sewer lines are off to the side by about 4'. If you look at the pics you will see that there appears to be a pretty consistent line for lack of a better word as to where the water is coming up from the driveway.

I opted for an asphalt driveway so that during the winter the sun would melt off any ice/snow versus concrete. My home is still under warranty but I need to get an understanding as to why this is happening.

I have been to that site...thanks. I have found absolutely NOTHING on what is happening to my driveway on the web...ZERO. General contractor is aware, and from some asphalt people that I have talked to they have never heard of this either, and suggested that it needed to be replaced.

Exactly! He's likely familiar with thousands of miles of asphalt.

I have responded to Greg via Alley PM and offline emails. I think he has undercompacted asphalt and subsurface moisture issues.

Most likely since it’s a winter issue the frozen ground is not absorbing the water and the driveway is below some sort of melt run off. The water is being forced up onto the driveway and since it looks like you have no crown/ good drainage gutters you get that on your driveway. I don’t install these thing, but I manage maintenance at a decent size factory with a lot of asphalt.

Even the "roughness" of the surface looks like under-compacted driveway compared to mine. My driveway is 500" long with a much larger area for turn around near the house. I have nothing that looks like your pics (water nor "rough surface") and my driveway is 20 years old. Was the sidewalk in place when they laid the asphalt? Is this the only area exhibiting this phenomenon? That does not bode well for several years of a freeze thaw cycle here in the Midwest.

These distress types are not at all similar to what the photographs above show, although some years in the future they may begin to appear.

Here is what I think I know...

Water coming up through the driveway means that the damage is already done. Everyday it is above freezing or even if the sun is out this is what is happening. At the end of the day there are puddles of standing water from the runoff. I do not believe that there is a fix for this in place, and the only fix is going to be a remove and repave. General contractor is fully aware, and has been trying to "suggest" what has been going on...but is and has been completely wrong. He even sent me pictures of other driveways with water on them...but thought I was an idiot because these driveways had large cracks in them from where the water was coming out.

I was not able to find anything like this one the internet. The person who seals driveways for a living and sealed mine said in the 20 years they have been in business they have never seen or heard of anything like this. Not sure Dean has ever seen this before...but I am going to guess no? What I do know from everything I have read regarding water and asphalt is that this driveway is not going to last very long because of this. Home is still under warranty because it was a custom build and that includes the driveway.

I know nothing can be done until the weather gets warmer but as sure as a frogs ass is water tight this driveway is going to be replaced cost free to me and done right.
