    Exhaust P s amp Q s

Hey all. I'm just making sure I have all my ducks in a row for my exhaust mods. If anyone sees something missing please advise. This is for a 2017 ACR-E. Street and light to moderate track sessions.

    My reason for these mods:
    1. Get the heat out of the exhaust system

    A by-product of my reason:
    1. Increased HP/TQ (via PCM swap)
    2. Better throttle response (via PCM swap)
    3. Louder exhaust (I don't really care to be louder or change the sound. Not my main motive in this endeavor)

What I have (bought from Mark Jorgensen when he was off loading stuff for cheap):
    - a used set of Belangers Tri-Y headers
    - a used pair of Belanagers 3" high flow cats (not sure of shape or stamping to know what kind they are. Hopefully they are ceramic?)
    - a used pair of 3" round tips
    - used Arrow PCM (to be sent to be Arrow for tune/calibration for my car)

All will be blasted and re-coated with black ceramic high temp coating

I also will need to buy/to do the following heat shielding actions:
    1. buy/install fuse box shield (from Calvo)
    2. wrap upstream O2 sensor bases/wires in with heat protection product
    3. wrap main wiring harness with heat protection product
    4. wrap the EVAP line under the PCM with heat protection product
    5. wrap the vapor line under the fuse box with heat protection product
    6. wrap the ABS lines along the frame on the driver's side with heat protection product
    7. wrap the coolant lines running to the oil cooler with heat protection product
    8. shield the radiator coolant tank and wrap the coolant lines from the radiator overflow tank with heat protection product
    9. wrap the hydraulic clutch line with heat protection product with heat protection product? (or is this already done from the factory)
    10. install dummy downstream O2 plugs

the wrap being a product like DEI Titanium wrap? Is this the best?

Or what about something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Is that product on Amazon better than the DEI wrap?

What about Calvo or Nth Moto engine mounts? Needed as well?

I'm also looking for recommendation for mufflers:
    1. Stay with factory mufflers (if I can with the 3" high flow cats and 3" tips without a ton of effort or cost?)
    2. Corsa
    3. Belangers

Anything else I missed product wise I should get?
Anything else I missed from a heat protection standpoint?

Thank you! I want to make sure I get this right the first go around and that I don't end up melting something

Instead of wrapping all your wires you could just wrap the headers instead.
But yeah that product you posted is the best for wrapping wires.
I run the Calvo solid engine mounts and love them. If this is your daily driver, you probably don't want solid mounts. It changes the whole feel of the car, but I love them in my track car. One of the best mods I made

Wrapping the headers is not the best idea in my opinion.
The reason being is moisture gets trapped between the headers and the wrap. Then with the moisture and heat, it will eventually corrode the headers (even stainless steel).

Agreed. Especially since the Belangers are not SS, hence why everything else will get wrapped

Which product? The DEI or the Amazon link stuff?

Not going full solid (billet) mounts for the reason you listed. Just maybe some poly solid like Calvo's or some other brand of hard poly?

But are the mounts even needed from a heat standpoint with the Belangers headers?

You do not have wrap (encircle) everything, the DEI tunnel wrap can shield most of the cables and lines that run along the frame next to the headers. The split heat shield sleeves do a nice job on the O2 wiring.

My car was already done and is ARH from Headers to the tips. I would recommend wrapping your Cat O2 wires REALLY well as I burnt through two layers of wrap on mine. We wrapped the Cats when fixing it and it resolved the temp issues. (Also they aren't cat's anymore so it's not like im worried about melting the honeycombs..)

How long do you think that would take? 10 years? 20? Get that heat out of your engine compartment. It's worth replacing your headers every 20 years lol It's probably the best mod I've ever done.

For headers this is the best- https://www.amazon.com/Design-Engine.../dp/B002R4U72I
The Calvo motor mounts will make your car shake and vibrate. For me I love it on my track car, but probably not the best for a daily driver.

Can you expand on that? What about them do you love and why would it be bad for a mostly street car? I’ve been thinking about them for a while.

I run calvo mounts. I was not happy with the price but the increased car feel is nice to have and adds to the driving experience both on the track, and on the street. I drive my gen V about 1000 miles a month and attend ~4 track days each summer. The minor steering wheel vibration/input is actually very nice feedback to have and I wouldn't want to go back to OEM mounts. In my opinion the increased feeling helps me be more in tune with how the car is behaving.

I installed the mounts while adding headers since I had to raise the engine up slightly to install the headers. OEM vs Calvo mounts pictured below:

Pretty much what SLP said below. I feel more connected to the car and it feels more badass. It shakes and vibrates. If you have a stock motor I'm sure it would shake much less

I also have the Calvo mounts on my ACR/TA. There is a small bit of vibration at idle but I hardly notice it. It completely disappears when RPMs increase. The Calvo mounts are more heat resistant than the stock mounts and would therefore be better on a car with headers. The stock mounts are hydraulic and I've been told they can be damaged by the heat from headers.

It would never happen with .062" wall ARH tubes

I have a 2014 GTS with ARH coated headers hi flow cats and 3" Corsa. Slightly louder at start up and normal driving but quieter at cruising speed. Getting better gas mileage also. Hav.e under drive pully Arrow PCM

I'm on the same track right now, only in the other direction.

Sounds like those Belanger components you bought are in separate pieces.(?)
The [J-Pipe>Cat>Muffler] used to be one welded unit.

    J-Pipe welded to the Cat.
    1_JPipe.png

CAT Body is 8.25" long / Circumference is ~15"
    2_Cat.png

O2 Sensor bung section is 4.5" long.

    Muffler is 22" long / 12.5" Circumference
    4_muffEnd.png

Tail Pipe ~9.5" long (to final bend)

Mine is JetHot coated and I've never had any extreme heat issues in the engine bay or side sills. Maybe that black ceramic coat will be enough.
Definitely wrap anything else that runs close to the system but I think that'll probably suffice.

Belanger muffler is very loud (90db at idle / plenty more db at 2500 RPM / TONS more db at 4800 RPM). And they provide significant drone.
I've learned to love 'em, but it gets fatiguing after a couple of hours of driving.

The Stock Resonator is 28" long and has a circumference of ~16".

I intended to try out the Belanger setup w/stock Resonator config., but that's when I discovered everything was one welded unit and decided it best to leave it that way.

No doubt you can weld up any configuration you want. Joining the 2.5" stock Resonator outlet to the 3" round tips is doable but might require some cutting.

I'm going true Bolt-On so I can easily replace different components.
