Posting some more pictures of Blucifer's prep work and parts for the next runway trip. Here are the Greg Good heads I had refreshed by Nelson Competition over in Pinellas Park Florida. Overall there was very little needed, seats, decked the heads, inspected everything, checked springs, lifters, pushrods, rockers etc. The tune in this car is right on the money as the engine is looking great thru this process.

Here are the exhaust headers for Blucifer. Lakeland Speed and Custom fixed a few small cracks and recoated the headers. They look like brand new. Lakeland Speed and Custom is doing the bulk of the work on Blucifer and they are doing some amazing work.

Here are a few more pictures of the 6XD sequential manufactured by RTS up in Kannapolis NC. The machine work is insane on this transmission, just look at the details in the case!

Blucifer Aero Bumper.jpg
Lakeland Speed and Custom is starting the aero work with the front bumper, other aero work is also planned for the rear in the coming days. I had always heard that above 200 MPH the the back of the Viper starts to dance around, I can say that isn't true but at 240+ it does start moving side to side and we hope to tighten that up with some aero adjustments at the rear of the car. All of these aero adjustments will be small changes, it's a balancing act between speed and downforce and we don't want to go too far in either direction.
Blucifer continues to come together and we are making progress on the piping for the turbos to the new water to air intercooler. Just being honest finding the right path to run all the piping and water hoses and making it all function as it should is a tough process, we are getting there though. I have much respect for those like Nth Moto who do this daily and make it look like it came from factory that way. Other parts continue to come in including parts and tires from Jon at Parts Rack, harness from TeamTech along with other go fast stuff. So great to work with vendors who live and breathe Viper every day. Here's a pic of the piping process.

Here are the rear tires that are going to take Blucifer to 275+ MPH. These are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 from Jon at Parts Rack ( Thanks for the great service Jon ), these will totally fill the wheel well at 28.15" tall not to include the added height that will come as the centrifugal forces began to act on it at speed, they will definitely grow in height. We generally add some additional rake to the rear to allow for this. In the past I have heard tire rub as the car approached 225 and above, the downforce does push the car lower at bigger speeds.

Here's the TeamTech 6 point harness I will run. Amazing job they did, blue and silver to match the car and extremally well made product. Other harnesses I've used tend to slip off the HANS device and I'm always double checking them, this one I don't see that as a possibility due to how it's made. Looking forward to strapping in this and heading down the runway.

Here's a pic of the rear wheel/tire combo. Thanks to Forgeline for the 20" by 12" wheels, these things are so light weight, so perfect, I really hate to get them dirty. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 245/30-20s from Jon B at PartsRack, and are definitely the right tires for 275+ MPH run. Thanks to Forgeline and TireRack, your support of the Viper community has helped untold number of owners in the past and continues to do that. Front tires will arrive mid Jan and are 295/30-19s. Once we have them mounted on Blucifer I will post a picture of it.
There is a classified series of DARPA modifications that allow transwarp speed in a Viper. It can only be used on Mexican roads. Results are Top Secret. Happy New Year. Felice Anno Nuevo!
We put the new 20" Forgeline/Michelins on Blucifer and I can't help but notice the brake rotors look so small on the rear now.

ARP wheel studs?
The wheel studs are ACR-X and came from Tom Francis, fit was perfect, some of the past ones I've bought were not quite right and were hammered in to make them fit. If I remember correctly Tom has these made by NASCAR shop that machines them to ACR-X specs in Charlotte NC area, which explains those yellow lug nuts.

Lakeland Speed and Custom is getting all the piping routed and tig welded. They are doing a fantastic job considering how little space there is to work with in these Vipers. Once all the V Band clamps etc are in place and welded along with the piping they will locate the water to air intercooler and make those connections. I'm ready to hear Blucifer fire up again and get back on the road and runway.
You know how all your friends like to make all these suggestions on how to spend your money to make your car faster.............." you know David what you really need to do is ( insert some ridiculously expensive component ). " I need to learn how to spend my friend's money or at least learn how to tune them out. So here are the new turbos for Blucifer since you can never have enough WHP and boost from what I understand, or at least that's what my friends have explained.......

Insane!
Yea sometimes I feel just a little bit insane although I don't think you were referring to me
It is getting a little crazy what it takes to put all this together to have a shot at making the numbers. I expect to have it all together and ready to make the attempt in 2021. Hopefully all will go as planned, and we set the bar a little higher for others.
Excited to see the next run results!
1000 HP Intercooler 2.jpg
1000 HP Intercooler 1.jpg
The (2) 1000 HP rated Precision water to air intercoolers have arrived and this gets us closer to the goal. I really hope to have it down at NVE but the delays in components may not allow for that.
Afternoon everyone, been a while since I posted anything new on Blucifer's progress so I thought I would post a few things. The overall progress has been slowed by the year and half of Covid, component leadtimes have been long and often delayed but it's gave us time to redesign some items that will help me to achieve the new goal of 275 MPH +. The intercoolers for one are not up to the task of keeping IATs in check so we have basically doubled the size of them. They are now rated 2000 HP each and hopefully that does the job as I'm running out of room to go much bigger. We also have spent a fair amount of time going over all the materials out there to keep the heat in the pipes feeding the turbos along with the turbos themselves. We decide on a combination of coatings on the parts plus some rather expensive wraps. We also did some really creative stuff to assist that effort of keeping the IATs in check. I will post pictures in the coming months and probably a lot after the attempt of the build leading up to the run. The diffuser and some vertical stabilizer designs are almost complete and hope that helps with the wiggle that shows up over 250. We are reconfiguring the fire suppression system to improve the nozzle locations. Fire suppression is a combination of automatic and manual nozzles. I like back up plans when it comes to safety. When it came to the fuel tank I decided that the factory tank had to go to make room for a fuel cell with bladder/foam arrangement. Probably freak out some to see it happen but we cut out the trunk of the car to remove the factory tank and allow the fuel cell and a new battery enclosure to be installed. The new trunk floor/walls etc will be aluminum and some stainless steel. at this point I'm so deep into it being a racecar there's no sense in trying to keep it stock in some areas although the AC and radio will still work. Like to hear what you guys think and hope that I can put up a big number for the Viper Nation once the cool weather returns to FL ( just so y'all know below 60 degrees is considered freezing down here ). Appreciate everyone's comment and suggestions and especially appreciate those that helped with this build. David
