Tillett seat showed up yesterday and I have to say I'm beyond impressed with it. By a huge margin it is the most comfortable race seat I have ever sat in, and it doesn't even have any pads in it yet. The quality of it is amazing, I've used other brands and nothing compares to this seat. Doug Shelby sells these seats, I do have to say I didn't order this one from him but that was the result of the leadtime, I had to have one to finish side bars on cage so I had no choice but to search for stock. We are making the mount this week to install the seat and I will post up pics once it's in the car.

Drivers seat has been installed, the project is coming along nicely and I expect the cage to be painted soon and the interior/body panels to start going back on after that. Parachute should be mounted later in the week along with the fire suppression system which will be (2) 10 lb bottles, 1 for engine compartment and 1 for cockpit. After that it's brakes, transmission and some other go fast parts. Hope to be on a dyno soon to see what more we can squeeze out of it.

Last bar in at the door, plenty of room, allows us to keep stock door panels and all the interior. Once that bar is tig welded along with a brace back under rear hatch to bolt in the (2) fire suppression bottles the cage will be complete. Fire suppression is a combination of automatic and manual pulls for rear hatch and drivers compartment and the engine compartment is a completely manual system. We plan to pull out the E-Brake handle and install the operating handle for the chute in that area. After that we are adding a bulkhead to keep the drivers compartment separate from the rear hatch area since that holds the fuel tank and oil tank for the dry sump, driver safety is first priority and then speed. Cage will be painted to match car, then we will install some sound deadening/heat transfer material to keep the cabin a little quieter and cooler. Next step is to reassemble/install the interior, add harnesses followed by the body panels. The plan is really coming together and we will get into the mechanical aspect of the project next month to include clutch, transmission, brakes, differential along with other components to make it a bit faster. I'm looking for a quality quick release steering wheel if anyone has a suggestion or recommendation on that.

Fire suppression bottles have been mounted and the automatic and manual nozzles will be positioned in engine, cockpit and rear hatch area. We have also completed the parachute tether mount which I think came out really nice. The bulkhead flange that separates rear hatch area and cockpit is just being planned out and located. You can see it in the left side of the one picture. Once we get that done we will cut and fit a lexan panel to give some rear visibility. Everything is progressing and I hope we will be ready to make the first attempt in October as we planned.

Haven't added anything in a while so I thought I would update the cage progress. The plan is coming together, cage is painted, interior will be reassembled soon, new clutch, bell housing and G Force built transmission will go in soon. After that we have some minor details to accomplish and then it's time for some dyno/tuning. We want to make sure we have adequate HP/torque to get the job done so we will add a small shot of nitrous on top of the TTs as our "just in case" insurance policy. We are about 7+ weeks away from our attempt at 250+ and at this point all looks good.

ART Ballista Viper, 1 mile event (American Racing Technology):

221mph 1/2 mile pass for a TA (Calvo Motorsports):

Sal Patel doing 229, 1/2 mile:

Is there a video of a Viper doing over 240mph?

This is a link to one of my previous runs. This one was 232+ MPH and the next run a hour or so after this one was 235+ MPH although I have no video on that run. I made an attempt at 240 but had issue after issue and just couldn't make it happen that day. I hope this 250 attempt goes well and we will have video of it to post up after the editing is done.

Here is a couple more pics of the cage after paint and the seat just sitting in place. The work this guy does is amazing! I can't wait to be strapped in and looking out over the hood at 250 + MPH

Top is back on car, all the rear suspension, differential, sway bars etc have been installed. Give it another few days and it will start to look like a Viper again. 2006 Viper Top Installed 1.jpg

More parts installed back on car, quad carbon clutch, built transmission, oil tank and lines for dry sump, quarter panels, front bumper and so on. Should be starting the engine in next day and then it's off to dyno/tune to see what we can get out of it. Hoping for some big numbers but reality is dyno is not the final say on what the car is capable of. Did some checking on entry and more important exit with HANs and helmet on, all went as planned. We are going to lower the seat another 1.5" or so and lean it back maybe another 8 to 10 degrees. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully I get a week or so of just driving it on the street to get some seat time. I probably have 100,000 + miles driving Vipers but each one is a little different. I will post up the dyno numbers for what they are worth next week. Closing in on Oct 26th fast but I think we will be ready.

Can't wait to see how it does

We are down to 19 days before tech inspection and the next day it's 250 or bust. Blucifer is really coming along well, started the engine a day ago after months of modifications being done. All the fluids changed, new race pads, etc. Still have windshield, side sills, rear hatch etc to install but those are minor things. We have the new Simpson harness, removable steering wheel and fire suppression ready to go in also. On the 7th it goes on the dyno to be tuned, hoping to squeeze a little more out of the engine just in case it's needed. Overall the build is exactly what I wanted, and I hope it's capable of what I'm after. We are trying to get everything wrapped up by the 19th and may run the half mile up in Ocala just to shake down the build. Here are a few more pictures.

I've signed up for both, just in case weather cancels one. I won't be anywhere near your speeds - just a bolt-on car. Mostly wanted to come watch some of the fast cars at one of these and figured I may as well make some passes while I'm there. What day do you think you'll be running?

I plan on making a few passes on Sunday but that's provided everything is completed on the car. I won't be making any 200 plus passes, this is more a shakedown for the car and I can't afford to break it less than a week before my 250+ attempt. I won't push it hard or make any hard launches so I might run between 150 and 175 at the most. Looking forward to seeing you run out there.

We have the car on the dyno and have made some pulls in the lowest setting. Working our way thru positions 1 to 5. Hope to squeeze a little more out of it on the #5 position but we shall see. As soon as all the tuning is completed I will advise how it went. Windshield goes back in it Friday and then the balance of the body panels along with some underside aero pieces. We still have a lot of smaller things to address such as plumbing on fire suppression, chute mounting along with cable/release handle, tires, alignment and so on but we have 14 days left and I don't see any reason we won't be ready ( famous last words...….right ). Here are some pics of it on the dyno.

We are well into finalizing all the last minute issues that everyone has right before any event. We had some issues with dyno/tune and Jamie tracked it down and repaired the wiring. Now we can switch between the 5 tunes. All body panels back on the car, so many smaller things to address but we have everything laid out on a whiteboard and the guys are quickly marking them off. New tires going on the car, along with alignment. At this point it looks like we will make it to Ocala on the 20th to do some shakedown runs and data log it all to determine what changes we need to make. Then we basically have 4 days before we have to load up for the 250 MPH attempt. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that goes, I know that we have done all the prep work, the guys have countless hours in not only making the car safe for me to drive but also fast, On Oct 26th we shall see if we did enough, hope to be posting some big numbers.

That cage is a work of art, Jamie's dedication to perfection is amazing. I almost hated to have the roof put back on. We had issues on dyno with that 5 position switch so I didn't get any solid HP or torque numbers as the engine management system kept jumping between tunes so timing and boost were all over the place. That issue is resolved but we won't have a chance to get back on the dyno until after some shakedown passes in Ocala FL. I will post some numbers after that hopefully but it depends on what all we need to work on after Ocala. Thanks
