Willow Springs Raceway March 9 10

West Coast racing will be out at the big track at Willow Springs March 9-10 of 2019. The weather is always great this time of year at WSR. Last time out we had 14 Vipers in total. Hope we can break that record this time.
Open to any car make and models this is an open track event. Two days Saturday and Sunday for $275. https://www.westcoastracinginc.com

Hey you did the link wrong, here it is- http://www.westcoastracinginc.com
What time do gates open and close on Friday?

    http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/index.php

Look towards the bottom of the page, right side.

Typically it's 7 to 5. I have seen on occasion them to leave the gate open past 5 on weekend events but not always.

I'd suggest calling them at Administration Office (661) 256-6666 to double check then again on Friday to make sure things didn't change.

We will be coming in Friday afternoon to drop off trailers. See everyone there!

I plan to be there about 4 in my Powerwagon with a camper on it, a white 20 ft trailer and with any luck my panoz will be unloaded. I'll be parked where the other Viper typically park.

I'll try to be sober still. Looks to be alot of fast vipers this time. I added two by fours across the rear deck so you guys can't pass as easily. I figure to see you guys two or three times each session....sigh....well, everyone except Lance and that Mark guy.

LMFAO! I'm not gonna go too crazy, track looks scary. Looks like you need to be 140-150mph all through 8 and 9 to get a fast time. Dunno if I have the balls.
Where are you guys going to park? I'm getting there fairly early. If I don't see any other Viper guys I'll just park wherever.

You won't be near that fast in 9. Turn 8 yes it's fast and faster than you feel you should go. I'm in the 135-140 range but even in red group a lot of people tap their brakes there and don't need to. You'll also scrub off alot of speed. There is a little straight afterwards that's a good brake zone (for aero cars it's a brake to set the car) for 9 which is more technical. Hitting that right is important for a good lap and not going off. I think I'm in the 100 MPH range at turn in but if done correctly you'll be on the gas welll before the apex.

Here's a map of where we typically set up.Willow Springs International Raceway - Google Maps.jpg

Thanks Carl! My Friday will start with a wake up call in Orlando at 4 am et, fly to LAX then back to DP. Then grab trailer, load car, Etc. hoping to be there by 9 pm

Cable, not sure what your doing with truck/trailer. Michael Greenberg has a Peterbuilt and stacker. He parks by the grass where you see the white spaces in the picture

See you guys late Friday or Saturday am

I just saw on West Coast Racing website that the fast group requires a firesuit? Is this true? I don't have one.
I emailed them as well, hopefully I hear back soon before we need to leave.

    Arizona,

What size are you? I have an extra that has never been used. I believe its XL pants and XXL jacket. I will bring it just in case.

You can always run in the other classes that don't require fire suits.

A big thank you to all the Viper guys that came out to support my event. I think we counted 19 Vipers that attended. Some of you came from a long distance and that is so amazing and does not go unnoticed. I hope you all had a great time at big Willow. The next one for West Coast Racing is October 5-6.

Thanks again Scott, Nice to see all the Vipers there! Looking forward to the next one. We will try and drag a few more from the CenCal area in Oct.

A few pics of the "7" Comp Coupes Snakes Slithering in the desert and enjoying some track time at Big Willow!

Great turnout of Gen 2, Gen IV and Gen V ACR's as well.

Really great event!! Track had been resurfaced recently. Days started cold at low 40's but the sun warned up to low 60's. All Vipers made a ton of HP in the cool air!!

17 vipers ran, all generations. 7 comp coupes, 4 G5 ACR-E's, plus AZ Vipers 9.0L, G4 ACR, 2 G3 verts, G2 ACR, even a real nice G1 with an Autoform hardtop. Plus Catwood's Panoz, his ACR-E is too pretty to track!!!

Great to see Willow newbie AZVIPER come all the way out. He ran a 1:25.XX and only ran Saturday which was the fastest Viper time and I'm sure the fastest car at the event!!!

Looking forward to AZ and Lance post more pictures and hopefully AZ has a video or two.

Hats' off to SoCal member Scott Hirko who is now the principle of West Coast Racing, great event Scott!!!

Got a chance to squeeze out a 1:30.10 chasing Don G. around the track. Was hoping to get in the high 1:2X's the next lap, but got rear wheel off in corners 3-4. Had a great time!
