Search begins for Gen V and Hello

Gents, I never thought I'd want to buy another car as I've loved having a tastefully modded m5 (F10), but I recently saw a Gen II in L.A. and it triggered memories of when I had posters of Vipers in my room! I must have one!

I would keep the M5 (truly a balanced car between comfort, style, and performance) if I had room in my garage as I really like the car, but it's just not going to happen. SUV and fun car + uber account = best SoCal scenario.

I'm looking for a Gen V and am still getting to know all the options (ACR, TA, GTC, etc). Which iteration has all the aero/suspension upgrades without all the design/comfort options (don't need leather, sound system, navigation, etc)? I saw that the strut brace in CF saves about 3 lbs...don't need that either.
Are the engine internals forged (for mild boost in the future)?

I'm hoping to find the right 2016-17 in white or blue; the price range is between 100-190k for low mile Gen V's. Some are practically new with less than 500 miles.

Thx and looking forward to participating in the forum.

    Welcome to the community!

The short answer is that the true ACR Extreme, not the GTC ACR, is the hardest-core version.

As for the details, I suggest taking some time to browse the Gen V section of the forums, and read every post in every thread that sounds interesting. There's some great stuff in there that doesn't need rehashed here.

Welcome from another BMW fan!! Yes, the gen V's have forged pistons. It's an over-engineered car with quite a few running 1200+ rwhp TT setups on the stock block. Heads/cam is more popular with these cars since they were made for the track but it's all personal preference and depends on what you want to do with the car. The ACR is a beast on the track but it's not the most comfortable ride on the street especially coming out of an M5. The TA is a good compromise between the street and track. Even a base model is more car than most of us will use on the track, these are really awesome cars. Good luck with your hunt!
