    Question F1x and HC Questions

I am planning on either an F1x or H/C build next fall. I have one big wish...I would like to install the F1x or the H/C myself for personal satisfaction reasons. I've built a few push rod v8s in my garage and historically have always done car/engine repairs myself. It's satisfying and one of the reasons I bought this car.

    Re: F1X:
Who has an F1x system? I would love to read more information and see more videos about what it's like to drive one. The few videos online seem to only show 1) the car idling or 2) doing 1/4 pulls. What's the procharger whine like inside the cabin? How does the added weight affect track driving? Does it stay cool during track days?

    Re: H/C:
Do you think one of the h/c shops would sell parts, tuning, & some of their proprietary information on what they do during the install (e.g., things not found in a repair manual such as certain torque values, valve lash procedures etc.)? This is purely hypothetical at this point so I don't want to waste a shop owner's time asking this until I'm ready to pull the trigger.

    Thanks in advance.

I have seen an arrow cam and head parts for sale second hand never installed. Theres a thread about a guy installing the f1x kit as well

Scot at Prefix aka Arrow Racing or Todd at A&C Performance would be who you would want to contact.

I will say that, N/A would be the much better route if you plan on tracking the car.

I don’t think any of the big 4 H/C shops would split up any piece of their all or nothing packages but would be worth a try, maybe the shops will chime in. Greg Good would be a good source for what you’re looking to do, he will build/sell just the heads and custom cam for you to install and he’s an open book with info. I was on the fence about H/C vs F1X also. Just pulled the trigger on H/C with on of the big shops, the 2 year warranty along with the reliability of N/A was a big selling point for me. As far as the F1X, I wasn’t sure how it would hold up all day on the track in FL heat but I can always add it later on top of the H/C if I need more power.

I agree with the H/C and said the same thing, " If I need more power I will install the SC. " The only thing I did was fool myself. It's not "If" but " When".

    What is an "FX1"?

    Hi Arizona,

I think he is referring to the "F" series supercharger from Procharger.

A huge consideration should be traction. Just an opinion, but, you probably need a stand-alone pcm with FI. That is not only for engine management, but, also for traction control. When you go stand-alone pcm it probably puts you back with a turnkey approach with someone like Nthmoto or Prefix.

we do sell our heads and cam package outright to customers for self install. There is no installation instructions but we can help with any questions.
We also sell the parts individually as well.
    Thanks

I had Todd install his heads/cam package along with an F1X on my car. This setup while super fun to drive on the street it would be virtually impossible to road race. The power just comes on too strong to be getting off and on the throttle as required for a track car. I think a heads/cam setup would be much more suited for a track car.
