Applying carbon fiber on tail light surround pics pics

So I wanted to change my tail light surround to carbon fiber , wrapping it was not an option cuz there is waaay difference between the warp and real CF ,i did a quick search for buying a new one and it cost between 2500-1600$. Then i saw a local car shop works with CF , took the car there ,they said that paint should be removed after they can start applying real CF , I thought why buying a new one and putting mine on the shelf plus the job cost 560$.

    Here is some pics

Wait so they sanded the paint down, then apply carbon fiber too it? I guess that's a different route to take.

$560 seems like a good deal if it comes out ok! Post pics when it's installed!

I have a guy that might do it. He did my carbon fiber interior on my 03. He does awesome work. I might go this route after seeing how awesome it came out.

LMK, I did the black vinyl in the back but I'd pay to swap to Carbon Fiber. I didn't want to do the Carbon Fiber vinyl since it looked/felt fake.

What I'm most mpressed with is that they layed the carbon just like the OEM piece. Theres a "seam" in the middle of the panel where it looks like the carbon makes a "V." Looks great!

Sure makes that plastic diffuser stand out. Serious, it looks awesome! Need to find a shop here near Colorado that can do this but lay real matte carbon fiber over my 96' RT dash and a few other interior components.
