It's actually pretty funny. Talk about stereotypes. If the author is serious, he's really the sick one, not the Viper owners.

That was not funny, till I realized that everyone I know who bought a First Gen Viper crashed it!

I have never met a Viper owner past or present that does not revere the Viper for what it was and still is.

This was probably penned by a German auto writer.

This writer has a great sense of humor. Their articles are for entertainment, not editorial value. All appear to be "tongue in cheek." https://kinja.com/seat-safety-switch

Haha... author also seems to have a penchant for writing in a dystopian future or parallel present for effect. Funny stuff, and like most good comedy, nuggets of truth in there.

That was a fun read. I had moments where I laughed and agreed, and times where I had to cringe. The "typical" owner the article depicts does actually sound a bit like me.

I was a bit disappointed because at no time did he discuss the fact that we could cook and entire gourmet breakfast on the sidesills of our Reptilian Machine. The fact that no eggs were fried, no bacon sizzled, left me with an angst he forgot what every other journalist has repeated since 1992 -- this baby cooks down the road.

Original thought has been lacking for most of the 25 years the Snake was made , so a little tongue in cheek of all the misconceptions didn't phase me much, and in fact it was almost hilarious, ha!?

    TNX for post.

As Bill undoubtedly knows, David E. Davis actually fried both bacon and eggs on a white Gen 1 RT side sill for a story in his Automobile Magazine waaay back when. Had some tongue-in-cheek too, about 'why would anyone buy this beast'

Ironic that it was a HMS car that later had a minor fire !!!

PS the very day I picked up my first (of 17) Vipers was 3/30/93, Memorial Day weekend. Could have been MY memorial, since I almost crashed it on the drive home....I went out and renewed my race-license over the next 90 days, which had expired in 1975, along with my skills.

Those G1s were / are scary fast and zero driver aids..... The only safety software is between the drivers ears....

I thought a few parts were entertaining&funny but he lost me a couple times,
Halfway thru, my expectations were to be LOL'ing by the end and it didnt happen.
I could see a similar piece being written to be much easier to read & more humorous. I don't know what the authors intentions were though so i'm not tryin to knock his material.

How about this one for a laugh:

<--- That guy has some funny "review" videos, but i'll warn you that his style can get really annoying if you try and watch more than two in a row. I really like the Miata one too...

Thanks JonB. I completely agree. I used to think I had a pretty solid grip on my driving skills untill the day came I was able to own a REAL car, like my first Viper. I put a little wrinkle in that one but it was repairable and I havent totalled one and hopefully never will. I hate seeing crashed Vipers...

Thanks Jon, and what was so typical , over the years , was the lack of Journalistic Talent concerning the Viper, as the plagiaristic story of eggs and bacon surfaced with practically every new model. Seemed originality was difficult to succumb to for many writers , so these tongue in cheek scribblings are actually somewhat refreshing , for a change.
