    Gen 1 & 2 rod bearing clearances

Does anyone have any experiences with their rod bearing clearances? The manual calls out for .0002”-.0023”, just curious to what others have stuck with and if it helped with oil flow. I’m currently sitting at .001” across the board, was thinking about loosing my clearances even further out with oversized bearings... thoughts? I’ve already done my oil modifications to the crank shaft and opened up the oil galleries in the block to .3125” as well as my mains. I’m also bored over from stock 4.0004” to 4.050” and I’m coming back from a spun rod bearing on number 3, so you can understand the importance on my clearances. Thank you!

How are you measuring your clearances? That can have a huge impact on the numbers you’re seeing.

I'm using a micrometer, then subtracting one from the other. Also, I've tired using Plastigage which I know isn't accurate. But I'm still curious to if anyone has set their rod clearances to .002 & if they have yet to spin any of their rod bearings. It seems to be very common!
