Lo Tire dash indicator function question

So the 'Lo Tire' light was on when I first bought the car from a dealership about 3 weeks ago (2004 SRT10 Convertible), even though the tires had proper pressure; no beeping. However, today, in addition to the light, there is now an audible beeping. Tires are inflated to the proper pressure. How can I reset this light or at least disable the beeping? Thanks! I did a cursory search, but only found a thread from 10 years ago that was marginally relevant.

Must likely, one or more of your sensors are dead. If you have new tires and sensors, said sensors have either not been correctly programmed OR they are the wrong type. It takes a Chrysler DRB III to program the sensors to your car. While a tire shop local to you can check the sensors for signal, the commonly used Bartec device will not work to program them to Gen III or IV Vipers.

Sadly, many, many dealerships are no longer aware of these facts...or, or lacking the DRB III. Worse yet, inexperienced techs commonly throw TPMS modules and/or Body Control modules at these situations. Hell, if they can reprogram your sensors...expect to pay $140-200.

One cannot disable the warning system.

It takes me less than 2 minutes to do this...and, yes...have done it dozens of times...for free.

Thank you for the info. Follow up question: what is the system logic? Meaning, the light comes on/flashes. At what point does the beeping begin (mileage threshold/time/other)? I see no other indicator lights, so I'm assuming the beeping is related to the 'lo tire' message. I could be wrong making that correlation though.

Steve where did you get the magnet that is placed over the valve stem during programming?

ViperSRT, I use a 3inch diameter magnet mounted to a 3ft. long handle...bought it years ago at hardware store...used to pick up nails. It works well...strong, no bending over to use...start at left front, go to RF, then RR, then LR. DRB III berps each time sensor programmed ...one man job.

Then drive 1.2 miles and warning light should clear.

P.S. You cannot use STARTECH, and early wiTECH did not work either. The later wiTECH had DRB III emulator button...BUT guys I know could not get that to work.

Fortunately, Gen V Vipers gave self programming sensors.

Question for those who have aftermarket wheels/those who don't utilize the TPMS: did you remove the TPM Module as well? Or just deal with the 'Lo Tire' light?

Thanks Steve. I have a DRB III but not the magnet. I tried the only big magnet I had (an old transmission magnet) and it did not seem to work. Will try again with a bigger magnet.

That has happened to me also...case number one was a friend's 2003, new tires and sensors installed at a great shop...BUT, wrong sensor sent to shop.

Next case was 2006...tried it at C&C, no luck. Went to a friend's dealership, checked wheels with their Mopar tool set to "ZB"...absolutely no signal from any wheel. His receipt showed new tires AND sensors had been mounted at a well known out of state shop. My conclusion was wrong sensor...while others wondered if there were ANY sensors on board. Guy moved, no followup.

Because of above, I often send folks pics of OEM sensor as well as the correct updated 03-6, 8-10 sensor. Shoot me an email ir phone number for pics if you are worried.

Haven't been able to find a solid answer to this: does the 'Lo Tire' light accompany an audible tone (rate of flash/beeping is once every two seconds (which according the the FSM, is to be expected)). Some of those who responded on FB relayed that they only have the 'Lo Tire' light, but no beeping. However, the person who responded with the aforementioned case had aftermarket wheels without TPMS.

I may end up just removing them altogether when I get new tires. I can live with the light. The beeping, not so much.

My '06 has aftermarket wheels ... And does have the Lo Tire indicator on. But there's no recurring beeping or chimes. That would drive me nuts, but tiny indicator doesn't. Mine displays steady, no flashing. Sorry I don't know how it came to be ... Was like this when I bought it.

When I use track wheels and tires I get the light alone. Can’t recall any beeping.
