Mecum Auctions

Wife & I had a great time this year at the various auctions, and good to see our Vipers gaining such popularity nationwide. After speaking with Kraman and Bill Stephens (who absolutely adore our cars), we should expect a continual rise in desirability and value....especially the well maintained examples.

Agreed. Eff it. Let's all sell these damn cars for the price of a Kia and get it over with. I was a DeLorean owner for years, and some of these viper guys have them beat by crapping on values by a long shot. BTW I made a killing selling that DeLorean....

A buddy of mine just bought a DeLorean. Not sure on the year, but it was all original, aluminum looked amazing, 50k original miles... he stole it.

Glad you got out while the getting was good.

I don't.... But my point is.... The DeLorean (the dog of the automotive world) was underpowered electric problems abound, and you'd be lucky to get it to run reliably and not overheat. Yet I kept it clean, took care of it, knew the car extremely well, and did well when I sold it. I bought it in 97 for 13k and over the years had about 10k in it and sold it two years ago for 62k. If the Viper doesn't go up in value and isn't worth anything in 10 years then clearly it's the world's problem and not the vipers....
The DeLorean is a neat car and has a cult following but that's about it. The Viper on the other hand is extremely attractive, great on power, reliable, and will certainly be sought after by collectors.

You are obviously missing a major point. Many of the Viper owners are "type A" personalities that have to show that they are the "best" at what they do. They take enjoyment at putting others down because they believe, in their minds, that putting others down, makes them better. Some people have to get their jollies wherein they buy a car and then HAVE OTHERS follow them around in a car to take shots of them in motion. They then post a picture and look for praise. Vapid.

Their "status" should be updated from Viper owner to "self enthusiast". They are only enthused in their own car, not all of the different generations.

It reminds me of years ago on the "other site" where a bunch of us drove 300 miles to the Crab deck in Maryland. Some the cars that came were "highly modified" with wings and stuff. Upon arrival, several of the owners in Maryland turned their noses up at people who came down. You would think that people would be nice to make sure the gathering went well. Many times, Viper owners are their own worse enemies.

I don't know that I missing the point, but I see the point you're making. When a vw bus built in the 60s is now selling for 100k there's no point is dumping on these cars saying they will never be worth anything. It's a tired argument.

Its sad when a paid Mamba Member can't share their thoughts on "the one and only" Viper forum without a bunch of low life's who if you notice. none of them are members.
It's too bad the VOA couldn't make this an exclusive club where you can only reply if your a member. You can read but you can't write. That way it would have weeded out these idiots who have nothing better to do then bash a guy who paid to have this site open. I'm not a member but i don't bash them either.
