    Totaled my car this weekend

Well, gents, after 15 years of owning vipers I totaled one. This is a clear example of not thinking. I was on the road I've traveled over 20 years on. Going as fast as I usually do through a long sweeping turn I know so well. The difference was that it was cold, moist outside and cold tires. I wasn't thinking as I had a lot on my mind that morning. As I was taking the long sweeping turn, the car kicked out and before I knew it I was I was bouncing between the center divider on the left and the hill on the right. I won't get into the details of it all but I was so lucky to have walked away with just a sore neck. Unfortunately, the car is totaled. Pics below.

I'm going to need help as I start dealing with the insurance adjuster. #1 is that i know I'm going to fight for value. These Carbon cars are special and bring more than a regular GTS. I can see the insurance trying to value the car at 70k/80k. #2 is what I should do with all the mods if any are salvageable. Headers, exhaust, computer, suspension. I even want to take the wheels off and keep them, they are discontinued and I can use them as a reference to having a replica set made.

For those of you that have gone through this process. What advise do you have for me?

Wow, you are lucky to have been able to walk away from that! Awfully sorry to see you lose the car, it was a beauty. No advice, unfortunately, but good luck.

Glad you are safe Anton. If the car is still accessible, get all the mods off now. Otherwise consider them a loss. Get some comparison prices for a car similarly set up. Good luck and glad you are safe.

What tires did you have and how cold was it? I drove mine @ 6am in 36F temps. Took it easy on the on ramp. The Pilot sport 4S i believe is the best summer all around tire.
I just got an S1000RR and im skeptical of riding that in sub 40F temps.

Anyways, sorry for your loss, youll be back in a viper in no time.

Btw, are the rotors still good?

Anton, so sorry to hear of this incident...but relieved that you sound OK.

Through the years, there have been a few folks who not only are willing to help owners in this type of situation, but also have the credentials to back up their evaluations. I would suggest that you reach out to Bill Pemberton or John Gastman. JonB has also been a huge help to many, many owners through the years who hand found themselves in similar situations.

    Best of luck, Bro !!

Damn, glad you're ok. Cars can be replaced.

I'm surprised to see the X brace shear off like that.....just crazy.

Can happen to anyone. Has happened to me more than once or twice. Glad you're okay. Sorry to see such a gorgeous car like that. Cockpit looks intact and kept you safe so the car did it's job. Good luck with the insurance company.

I'm having the car towed back home tomorrow. The insurance agent told me unless it gets towed to a junkyard, I will have to pay for the storage fees as we go through this process. I told them to bring it home. This way I can also take my mods off of it.

Pirelli Pzero Corsa 355/25/12. It was around 40-45% out. I just left the house about 5 min prior so not enough time to warm up those tires especially traveling on slightly went ground. Rotors are perfect.

Stability control did absolutely nothing. Yes, the brace was exactly like that when the car stopped. Crazy...

The car definitely kept me safe. Cockpit completely intact given the impact.

Damn that sucks. Had the rear kick out on me a few times now and it’s crazy how quick it can get away. Hope you get back in one and start another chapter :-)

Side note: I recently delt with Amica insurance on a totaled Supra. They acknowledged the prices they saw for sale were not even close to the KBB or “whatever they use” prices and gave me the average of the asking price for the 5 closest cars to my zip. Also gave me 50% for the mods I listed. Hopefully you have good luck and get some good examples of high asking prices “should be easy right now”

Thanks, guys. Just a reminder for everyone to be mindful of the road conditions. These cars are not as forgiving as others but that's what I love about them. Nothing will ever replace a Viper for me. I'm looking forward to working through this mess and start looking for a replacement. Theres a beutiful Carbon TA for sale on Ebay. I hope its there when im ready!

My God, glad you are OK! Yes, I've had my Corsas out in the cold, and I drive like a grandma. But as you said, it only takes a moment of not thinking.

Good luck, and I know you'll be back in a Viper soon.
