    Unhappy Car idles and dies

Original owner of a 96 gts with 85k miles, never had any major issues till recently. It started to crank & crank till it finally ignited. There are times that it ignites right off, I had taken it to my own mechanic & Dodge dealer and left it for a few days. They both claimed it started every time the key was turned . You can guess what happened once in my own garage, symptoms came back. I have a new problem, once ignited and idling for as long as 5 minutes or more, it stalls, cranks it again, idles but stalls. Here's the kicker, after doing it for a few times it idles just fine and things are back to normal, as far as I can tell. However, I don't have enough of you know what to take it out for a spin.

I have to mention that I don't know a whole lot about how things work around the engine, but I imagine given the symptoms to a master tech, should give them a point of direction. I have put in a new battery, Alternator, Fuel filter, Crankshaft sensor. I am looking in to changing or cleaning the Idle control valve which also make the engine stalls for no reason.

Please, if any body gone through the same situation, I can really use your suggestions or thoughts.

As I posted in your duplicate thread:

"First off, older cars can develop a problem with fuel pressure leak down...Gen I and Some Gen II Vipers. Cycle the key to on, leave it a few seconds (til fuel pump stops running), turn ignition off without trying to start car. Do this 3-4 times in quick succession, then turn to start. A tech should have measured fuel pressure. By now, it could also need new fuel filter.

Take air box off...examine filters. Dirty? Soaked with oil? Ever been changed? Get new ones as necessary.

Have tech inspect and clean idle air controller system and clean throttle body blades.

May be a good time to change plugs and wires...and do full fluid service if not done recently.

    Report back."
