    96 gts 3 55 or 3 73 with 20 wheels

Was looking for owners advice that have 20” wheels and what you would recommend for a gear change. My tire is 87” circumference and 28” tall. Viper is a 96 gts with Belanger headers, Borla exhaust, cat delete and lightweight flywheel. Stock 3.07 gears. Around 525 hp to the motor. Before getting into changing wheels, If I could find a set of old iforged Daytona wheels in a 19/18 setup I would get them, but no luck so 20” Daytona’s is what I am stuck with.
From what I understand, 3.73 would equate to around 3.40 with my current wheels and 3.55 would be around 3.25. Is this correct?
How does what you have affect 1/4 and 1/2 mile times?
1/4 I recall leaving it in 3rd and 1/2 mile best result was leaving it in 4th at 149 mph.

    Thanks

sounds about right. I think you'd have to get into 4th possibly in 1/4 with the 3.73. I had 3.73 on 18's. then switched to a 3.33 (due to Roe) and now I running 18/19 set up, so I thinking my final ratio is about 3.24 or so.

3.73s would work best with 20" wheels

I have an 8# Roe on my '01 with 20" PSS rears and 3.73 with my OSG LSD. All 6 forward gears are quite usable for average highway driving now.

Thanks you 3 for the responses and recommendations. Looks like 3.73 is the way to go
