Looking for a stock rear muffler

    Hello everyone,

I need a stock rear muffler for my 1997 GTS. Here in Switzerland we have to keep our cars stock to pass the "technical inspection" every two years. I bought my Viper with a snake oyl rear muffler delete. Because the car has been storaged for quite a while when I bought it in 2016, I did the usual stuff (fluids, gaskets, etc.) and I did also replace the cats and oxygen sensors. When I had the sills off the car I decided to replace the stock resonators with small magnaflow mufflers. These made my car louder and I guess now it won`t pass inspection again. That`s why I would like to replace the snake oyl pipes with a stock muffler from a 96-02 Viper.

I checked Ebay but there is no seller offering international shipping.

So I decided to ask you guys, does someone have a stock muffler in good condition who would sell and ship it to me ? (Switzerland)

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Ronnie

Have you considered buying a dual in and dual out muffler and have it installed with new pipes starting where the snake oil kit starts? You could make it to where you could swap it and the muffler delete pipes out pretty easily. May be cheaper than having an old factory one shipped overseas.

I guess that wouldn`t pass our inspection, because everything concerning wheels, brakes, intake exhaust, etc. hast to be stock or your car won`t pass the inspection and then it can`t be legally driven on the street, because a car that doesn`pass inspection isn`t "road worthy" and therefore not allowed on public streets. The only thing that comes close to such a thing (as far as I know) is the emission test you guys have in some states. We always envy your system when it comes to car modifications

    Hi, Ronnie...sorry for your difficulties.

Have you checked with Don Scharf Automotive in Wisconsin? They part out Vipers and generally have about anything one wants...at reasonable prices and always with great service. Although I have no idea about your tax system, it has been my experience that the person receiving a part or manual is subject to substantial taxes...that often exceed the price of the object and shipping combined...even if the part is a true gift.

If you purchase a used part from Scharf, could you possibly pay less in taxes?? Just a thought.

Here is their telephone number: 715-891-2011 OR 800-338-4002

    Good hunting !!

Look at the bottom of a typical American lake. That's what we do with stock viper mufflers.

    hello,

thank you all, what a great community !

Steve-Indy, I know scharf, bought an air-filterbox clamp from them, but I haven`t thought about them now, but I`ll keep it in mind for the future, thank you !

@Stan0268: Wow, that would be great, I could even come to you and pick it up, Basel ist about half an hour from me. I`ll send you a PM.
