Gen 2 Tuners Near Pittsburgh PA

    It's a 96 GTS w/+100 HP heads/cam/headers build.

I know there is Dan Lesser in Buffalo but that is 4 hours away. While doable, I'd like to have someone local.

There is PRL Motorsports in Murrysville PA (20 min away) but they are Honda specialists.

Don't learn the hard way. Take to a trusted tuner as listed on the forums.

So there is a well known Viper Tec only 4hrs away and you are thinking of taking your car to a Honda tuner! Had you thought about Buying a Honda instead of a Viper!

I'm not saying the Honda tuner is bad, but surely you would want to take your car to someone who actually lives and breaths Vipers? For a day out of 4 hrs (each way?) I would not even consider taking my car anywhere else!

Don't know of anyone worth dealing with in Pittsburgh, PA area.

4 hours or 1 hour away, I'd have to have the car towed for the tune job. I could drive it up there same day if he was doing a followup.

BUT isn't he supposed to be moving his operation to FL?

Complete Performance Motorsports is a little over an hour away in Sebring, OH. They specialize in track prep and know Vipers as well as anyone. I'm not sure how much tuning they do, but they are certainly worth a phone call.

Have the tuner give a safe base tune to get the car there. I did that then drove five hrs for the final tune. Most could do a simple remote tune unless it's something crazy.

Sebring OH, cool - I'm 2 hours away (I'm on the other side of Pittsburgh.)

I've heard a lot about a remote tune. How is that done? Real time at a dyno?: - tuner remote logs onto laptop while Skype or on phone with dyno shop? Or can do lots of data logging and then have remote flash?

On thing, I want the tune in my possession just in case I have to load the tune into a replaced PCM. Buy a SCT just to save the tune or other ways? I do have a DRBIII.

SCT will be the easiest route. Contact one of the vendors here and they will be able to dial it in be it real time remotely or data logging. Go with a tuner that has successfully done multiple Gen 2s and you'll be fine. Who's heads/cam are you running?

Take it to Dan. You won't regret it.

UPDATE: (bear with me, I finally drove the car from NV to PA where I live.) Talked to Dan (gosh, don't remember if Cragin or Lesser said this but I've talked to both) and he (they?) brought up the issue of "tuning out a problem" which is a total disaster. This is a 96 w/90k miles on it. There could be minor harness/ground issues that are not noticeable and then there is always the wonky sensor. I think Cragin wouldn't do it since it involves so much time and HP level is so low.

THEREFORE, my thought is since it's only 511 whp, a "prefabricated" "canned" tune based on build specs and possibly a dyno pull might be the best way to go.

What is really irking me is that I found an out fit in OH (I think) that is one of the handful of folks that have actually fully cracked and mastered programming the JTEC. This includes writing adding/modifying code, variables, tables. I even talked to these guys. Now I can't find any of my notes or posts or anything. Damn...

UPDATE: It's Dave @ B&G Performance - MI, not OH (The other guy was Chris Jensen aka ChrisTuner)
