Gen 1 amp 2 headlight project

I'm currently working with a friend to make a much needed improvement to the Gen1 & 2 headlights. The HID kit installed few years ago was a good improvement but wasn't quite right. quality parts do make a difference, he's working on couple Gen 2's at the moment. The new kit will have all new projectors with metal brackets, new HID complete kit. I will keep you posted with pictures and detailed instructions for easy install.

What's going to be the difference between what you are doing and the projector kit that is already available?

Gen 1 amp 2 headlight project

What's up dave? I'm not an expert on lighting, but one of the other viper my friend is working on had the other kit. After a good examination, he determined that the quality of the parts were not quite there, starting from the plastic brackets, the projectors and the bulbs. Here is a little list of what we're doing. we'll post pictures after install.

So you're basically making the same exact kit I made years ago and logged extensively on the three Viper forums?

And btw, what quality issues? It appears you're going to use the same Morimoto components that I used to buy in-person @ TRS. If you're talking about the plastic lens holders, yes, those are from the 6.0 generation projectors, before the 7.0's had even been designed.

But the plastic vs metal lens holders don't mean anything - the plastic lens holders on every kit ever made, including the very first, the one in my car, are all still exactly perfect.

The kit that was brought over to me and the brackets seemed very flimsy, thin, the projectors I was told they are high quality Im an Authorized dealer for Morimoto and sent in photos and they said it's definitely not their H1 6.0 version its more of the Mini h1 classic, that can be found directly on ebay. The Hylux ballasts that are provided in this kit are very robust too. Now im not sure if that is your kit or whatever, but I had request to create a better product, with warranty and more refined components and which I did. No need to get so upset, times have changed and I provide my clients with as high quality setups as I can. It's 2018 and yet these kits are sold with old projectors, atleast people have more options to choose from now with more updated components.

If someone wants to save some money they can get the other kit that is on the market or if they want a more refined kit, with updated products then for couple more bucks they can get this one. Atleast there are 2 options on the market now.

More power to you to sell these, and I'm not sure what "kit" you actually have in your hands, if someone else unknowingly copied my setup or made their own. (And if they did, I really don't care heh).

My brackets were made of aluminum and all of the components were all genuine 6.0 and 7.0's and Mori bulbs and ballasts from Andrew @ TRS. So the only thing I don't want is other people/businesses/whoever casting doubt that what they purchased from me was crap, because it wasn't, it was all genuine. Other stuff that was purchased elsewhere (not directly from me), well those I don't care about.

Well no one was talking crap nor anyone mentioned you in this post, you just hopped in bragging about your following (which honestly does not scare me, good for you). I received this and I saw ways to improve and create a more updated product.

No disrespect meant in any way, I didn't even know it was your kit that he looked at. Again, I didn't say your kit was bad, I almost bought one. I've been pushing Vito for years to do this for the viper community. even for your followers that want to add something extra to the kit they got from you, he can customize the headlight to their personal style.

Be glad you didn't buy one of those black plastic kits he posted, because those are ugly - I don't know what those are. I didn't even know those existed. Definitely not mine.

I had a bunch of pictures that were posted on the forums over the years but I think they've all disappeared due to the photobucket change...

I would've just sold you the CAD files and saved you the development time

glad to hear it was not you! Like I said, I've been pushing him to do this for years. It was more for a few local vipers. All good, he's doing something different with my headlights as a project, I'll keep you posted as we near completion.

I did update the bulbs to LED from JDM Astar. I have been very pleased with the light output and updated look. LED lows, highs and fogs were done.

What will the cost be and does it require permanent mods? I'd love some better output but I also don't want to hack up a perfectly good set of headlamps.

I re-cleared the headlamp lenses and massaged the plastic back cover w/heat to the back cover for extra room for LEDS. I spent about 300 for all bulbs and drivers.

No permanent mods required. Literally take out 4 screws holding projector and install the new prebuild kit, everything is reversible if you ever decide to go back to stock, which no one will after trying this setup.

The LEDs will technically work, but these halogen projectors are no way in shape and form designed to output light from a LED bulb, the optics in that projector are very very old. If someone asked me to offer a LED choice I would only recommend the Diode Dynamics SL1 series, but even then it's still not as good as a projector upgrade.
