    WTB Gen V

Hi everyone, hope a wanted ad is OK to post.
I have been searching for a gen V and nothing on the typical for sale sites is really calling out to me so I figured I would try a want ad.
I am interested in a TA, highly optioned GTS's, or may entertain the right SRT model.

Car must have SRT hood (6 hole)
    Aero kit is a plus
    Carbon interior is a plus
upgraded interior options are a plus (laguna, GT ect...)
I am open to mods (headers, ECU, heads, cam ect....)
Black, Silver, White, and GTS-R blue are all good colors to me but I am open to most colors just no yellow.
I have no problem traveling for the right car.

    Thanks
    Ryan

You will likely get greater response if you note what part of the country you're in. I know of a white TA available in the Toronto area.

The problem is most people are in fantasy land in regards to the "real" value of their car.

I appoligize I thought I did. I am in California, I am not opposed to traveling, but I am weary or importing from another country.

I check ebay and autotrader everyday. I dont think there is a single gen v on ebay that i want, most everything on autotrader is a gts that doesnt have the options that i am looking for.

Not at all! If a car has been on the market for months without a sale, the price is too high. There are so many Vipers that have been for sale over and over again. Doesn't take a genius to figure out the problem.

What are the key features you're looking for as so far you're open to every model and many colors except ACR and yellow, yet the different models are basically equipped or optioned so differently from the factory.

A highly optioned GTS for instance will always have leather seats yet a TA never will. A TA and GTS will always have the dual mode electronic suspension but that was never available on an SRT. Carbon interior only available as an option on a GTS, never on a TA, or on an SRT I don't think. And what about a GT?

The models and options on Vipers were so extensive and varied that it was hard to keep up. The more you learn about the differences and then determine what's essential for you the easier you'll be able to know what to look for. There are a lot of cars that are "available" at any given time that aren't listed in ads. If you can narrow your search and articulate what you're looking for you are sure to find the perfect one. Your budget could also be a very important factor.

We're here to help you figure out what you're looking for and someone here may very well know a car that would be suitable.

Sorry Bruce, but with the GTC program anything was possible. I understand folks with “real” TA don’t think of the GTC TA when people are “looking for a TA”. But the fact is the GTC TA has all the core options that make a TA. Plus options like carbon interior or leather seats were available. If he wants all those things I’m sure there is a car out there, but most likely in someone’s garage and not for sale. But with all the possible combinations it might be hard to find exactly the right car.

OP, Good luck with your search.

Absolutely correct, and the reason I asked about a GT, with the GTC with TA option group being one of many build possibilities. And the Anodized GTS was available with the TA option group before the GTC program started.

The TA has been #1 on my list, I was about an hour late to put a deposit on the last black one that came up for sale....... still pissed about that.
As far as what I am looking for......... not the run of the mill car. Something that has something special about it. The TA's are numbered plus I love the way they look with the SRT hood and the carbon fiber goodies.
A normal run of the mill GTS doesnt do it for me, mostly because of the GTS hood. A highly optioned one however can be considered "special" IMO. There is a beautiful GTS-R blue w/ white striped fully optioned GTS with SRT hood carbon fiber everything ect..... its IMO the perfect car but the guy wants 103,000 and its sat at that price for 18+months, obviously over priced. I offered $95K and he declined.

Well Ryan, I agree with you about a numbered black TA being something special I suppose And that GTS sounds great as well. There's really nothing as exciting or comparable to either in that price range.

I haven't followed GTS sale prices at all but if it's fairly priced at a justifiable premium based on what it is then financing requirements will make it difficult for a private seller to find a buyer that can swing it. Banks loan based on black book values and will see the average GTS sells for a lot less and then the buyer can't get a large enough loan. TA's can be hard to finance as well because the bank only sees them as an SRT with a much lower value than what the SRT TA actually sells for.

You seem to know your Vipers, have checked out a lot for sale, and I'm guessing the one that's special enough to you will also carry a significant premium. And TA values have been particularly strong. My only advice is to make sure you get the one you really want. Long after you've forgotten the extra you paid you'll still have the car of your dreams! That's a lot better than the regret of settling for anything less and eventually paying more to rectify that situation.

    Good luck with your decision!

If "most people" have their cars at a certain price point, I'd say that's not "fantasy land"...that's the current going prices.

I agree. There are usually a few "run of the mill" cars that get passed around for what seems like a good price(what buyers would call the going rate), but they're generally nothing special, or pretty common. 2014 Adrenaline Red GTS's with the GTS hood comes to mind.... Seems they were plentiful and sell quite reasonably. But that doesn't make the more desirable ones over priced.

Look at the Stryker green GTS with the SRT hood for sale in these classifieds. He's asking quite a bit more than what medium mileage red GTS's are going for, but I for one think it's worth the premium. Stryker paint was very expensive with a low take rate. The SRT hood, while not an expensive option, was a low take rate as well, and very sought after.

When you compare the used prices of GTS versus SRT with their original MSRP, the GTS seems like a real bargain used, the SRT not so much.

I know the car and I know the owner. It's as perfect as it appears to be and with barely break in miles. You'll not find another like it and certainly not one that is that "like new". Just my opinion....but there are very very few out there like his. And I'm not a friend trying to shill. But I've owned a lot of Vipers and know an ultra clean perfect one when I see it. You're 8K apart surely you can close that gap.

To walk away from what you consider to be the perfect car, over 8K.......strange call IMO (when you are talking about 100K car)

You cant call it over priced. Just because it hasn't sold doesn't mean anything other than it hasn't found the right buyer yet. Vipers are so unique and this usually means that it takes some time to find someone that feels just right about a certain combination of model, color and equipment. You may never find another one like this. I found the perfect one a few times and at that point it was more important that I got the car than saving a few bucks

Great point but, if his budget was 90 and he stretched to 95 then 103...

I think if you posted the budget range your trying to stay in that might help as well.

I can’t speak for everyone but I know for the right price I could be persuaded to sell my orange TA. But if your budget range tops out at 95k then likely not going to grab an orange TA without a little negative history anymore.

My understanding is the seller came down another 2K to 101K now.

The GTS-R? Seriously, PM me his information, that's a stupid good deal.

It’s not a GTS-R of course you know that? It’s a heavily optioned GTS..... blue with white stripes.

I know that car as well and it is literally perfect. Checks every single box for me, but like the OP, I wasn't able to stretch that far, so I offered him 90. Ended up getting a GTS for 82 that checked most of the boxes. He will find a buyer eventually.

I hear this. I struggled to find an ACR with the red driver stripe when I was looking. I passed on a few really cool G4 ACRs including a wicked rare 200 mile toxic orange 10 and a no stories Voodoo 1... I had to have the red stripe and ended up spending what I had to to get it. In the end you either sacrifice what you want for a small percentage of the value or plan to just suck it up and get the one you want... I really am glad I got the car I wanted as there is no feeling like I settled for something else.

Wow, Ryan from what everybody's said this car is about as close to Perfect as you're going to find, Hopefully you can work something out with him especially IF it's been on the market for 18+ months I would think he'd be willing to have a lil' wiggle room. I know exactly how you feel about the Hood though, I Did NOT want a GTS Hood & also Had to have the Aero pkg., leather seats, etc.... GL I Hope you can find what you're looking for!

So is the consensus that the GTS-R blue car isn’t as over priced as I thought? This isn’t a budget issue but more of a me not wanting to pay thousands more than I should.
