Gen 1 Three Spokes On GTS

I need you guys to tell me if I'm crazy or not. I'm looking for new wheels for my Gen 2, but have always been partial to the good old Gen 1 3 spoke, probably mostly for nostalgia's sake. Would it be stupid to get a set and throw them on the GTS? I've never seen anyone do this, and you can get these for really cheap sometimes.

Anything 2000 and earlier will work fine, but the 17" are a little small. It's like buying a new house and installing green shag carpet.

I agree they're a bit too small, and I wish they made them in 18". I used to love that Viper TV show! My license plate is actually the same plate they used in Season 1

    Nightshade-

I am a huge fan of stock wheels but trying to picture this combo in my head, it just didn't seem to work. However, after seeing the pic from the Viper show, it actually does not look bad at all! But yeah, too bad only 17s.

I did a photoshop to see what it looks like. I love it more than I thought I would. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I think it works very well.

If I ever get a Gen2 RT/10 to go along with my GTS i would have a hi-tech CNC shop scan the Gen1 3-spoke wheel and produce replicas for me in 18"F, 19"R. ...Maybe make a couple subtle tweaks to improve the design. I'd honestly rather spend 5grand on this then a set of something like HRE's.

The 3-spoke design is dope and really fits the RT/10 way better than the 5-spoke pizza dish wheels borrowed from the Ram. The 17" size is just too dated and doesn't fit the wheel well no matter what tire or drop.

I personally never liked the 3 spokes, but I did see a Gen 2 (I think it was B/W) that had them chromed, and they looked pretty good.

I looked into doing 18/18" or 18/19" replicas of the 5 spoke 17's, since I love the 17's design and they had a few extra details like the little "nubs" along the rim edge that really made them pop. Unfortunately, I figured it was going to be very expensive and I never really finished following through. There was a guy who made some wider & more concave wheels for his CLK63 by Advance Performance (you can find them on the MBWorld CLK63 forum under 19x11).

But I just bought some new 17" tires too, so I'll be sticking with the stockers for a while

That would be incredible to have that design in an 18/19. I'd buy those in a second.

I do love it, but I think I'm gonna be going with a set of black-painted Rattlers from a Gen 5. The larger size just looks much better and those simple 5 spokes work well with the design on the Gen 2 IMO.
