New owner First edition 06 coupe 33

After getting burned hard on a deal for a VOI9 car #81, I was lucky enough to find a car that I think I like even better! I picked up a first edition 06 coupe a few weeks ago in AZ #33/200. The car is basically new and I bought her with only 7900 miles on the clock. She currently has 9500 miles after driving back from AZ to CA along with countless trips to nowhere just to take the car out. I can't get enough of this car!! I am going to need new tires though due to age:

The tires are original and about 13 years old. The car will burn rubber everywhere. I was thinking of going with a 355 rear and 295 front but not sure what tire to pick in that size. Looks like Michelin offers a sport cup 2 in a 345 though. That might be best.

First off, congrats on your purchase! Second, you really do not want to be driving anywhere on 13 year old tires. You are lucky one didn't come apart on that long trip. If a tire is 6 years old, it is time to replace on any car, regardless of tread left. It could have 95% tread and still blow apart.

As far as a tire purchase. Gen V or Gen IV sizes will be just fine....it really doesn't make any difference since the rear wheel is still a 19x13. JonB always has good deals. If your car is staying under 600whp, then a normal tire should be fine. If you go above that, then an R compound tire like the Cup or R888R would be the better choice. Keep in mind that an R compound tire will not last as long and it is not fun being caught in the rain. Most people don't worry about either because they do not normally drive in the rain. You can get about 10K out of R888R's as long as you aren't spinning out everywhere you go and drive normal - spirited most of the time.

If I go with the sport cups and stay with the oem 345 rear width is it still advisable to stay with the oem 275 front width as well?

Congratulations, I have #146 here in the UK. I keep a spreadsheet with basic details of these cars (VIN/price/miles/location etc) and I saw your car was for sale a while ago on Facebook on the "DODGE VIPER OWNERS AND ALL VIPER CLUBS MEMBER'S SITE" page

Previous owner was in Arizona (I noted the name) but you probably already know this, it apparently had the original car cover too (mine went missing between the 2nd / 3rd owner )

New tyres (tires?) transform the car, Mine drove like crap with the runflats, but its the only Viper I have driven so I didn't realise how scary it was, until I changed to Michelin PS3 - 345 & 275. I went with this tire because of a price offer, no other reason

    Enjoy!

    Thanks 06 Coupe and City

the OE Runflats {RUNCRAPS as Sonic noted} are stealing your traction and handling and road-feel. Ditch Them Before They Ditch You.

I have a couple options for you, and I am closing in on $4,000,000 mark in Viper Tire Sales.....

the 06 FEcoupe did NOT include a factory car cover, FYI.

Trivia: First 06 FED delivered left CAAP 8/28/2005, # 007. R.Gilles drove it off the line and handed the keys to the lucky owner: ME !

Thanks for the info Jon, I feel less aggravated now!

After I got my car in 2015, I made contact with the 2nd owner, and he sent me photos from when he bought it in California in 2009. When the car sold to its 3rd owner in 2014 the car cover went with it.

Sadly, I (owner no.4) did not get the cover and I've been unable to locate it. I presumed it was part of the FE package, but now you've made me believe it was a dealer accessory(?)

Mine came with the original car cover in the same viper bag. It looks like a standard gray cover. Still haven’t pulled it out of the bag. The previous owner of my car was a great guy! Drove 2 hours to pick me up in Phoenix at the airport since I couldn’t rent a car one way to Prescott. The whole experience was as good as it got for buying a car out of state! I found the car on eBay after exhausting all other resources. I was so pissed after getting burned on that VOI9 car but this FE is absolutely awesome! No complaints! Let me check the window sticker but I don’t believe the cover was an option. I don’t remember seeing it listed. I want to say the FE option was like $5k so I hope it came with a car cover!!

The last time I was in London, the craziest things I saw were a guy and his kid across the street from me in an extended cab 4 door bright red SRT10 truck while I was having lunch at Pret Manger and a gen 2 gts coupe (blue and white) on Kings Road with Oregon plates! Totally blew me away! lol I went to Goodwood that year and that SRT truck still blew me away. What a baller!!! That must have been before width restrictions driving into London. It was completely crazy! lololol.
