There had promotions on a 2009 Vipers due to the Bankruptcy, but there was never anywhere near 25K off on cars. What was occuring was that Employees were allowed to buy at a reduced price also ( with the 5-10K also off that was offered on said cars) , and some Dealers then turned around and sold said cars to consumers. Actually helped Chrysler ( they made money on fines from disreputable Franchises) , as greed was the Dealer's motive to sell after buying under an employee's name, even while knowing their contract with Chrysler denied them selling the car for 6 months. Quite a few Dealers got caught trying to do their creative selling of said vehicles as used, and I know of at least one Dealer who paid over $250,000 in fines for going against Franchise law. Quite a few others were fined too, and supposedly one Chrysler Executive was fired for purchasing and selling his car quickly for a fast gain. It was a relatively small number of cars that went through this way at a high figure, and since Chrysler was in Bankruptcy the Dealers who thought they
were clever were betting there were too many internal problems for them to get caught -- not the case, there were some nasty fines, though sure some might have gotten away with it.

Ancient lore, but these situations will not happen again, as most of the folks that did some of these programs and others were the ones canned by Sergio, or they left while they could. The Bankruptcy did one
thing for alot of us, it seemed only the true gearheads stayed with Chrysler, and it was amazing to me that all the good eggs were still with the Company. Many folks felt like the people you could hand
pick to stay all did on their own and the stragglers or back stabbers all ran for the hills or were figured out at Warp 7 by Mr. Marchionne, and given their summary notice!!

I would like to point out again that dealers need to make a profit also. Bill and the other large Viper dealers are great to deal with and will try and make it happen for all of us to get into a new Viper. Some dealers seem to be fire selling the cars and taking a loss I think they realize that they ordered to many and don't seem to have the market. I have spoken to bill a number of time never worked a deal out but he is very knowledgeable and helpful and not pushy in the least. I purchased my new TA from Mt view and recommend them and my friend just bought a car from Tomball. Good luck to anyone who buys a Gen V love mine and to the dealers who help us out and keep the Viper community well informed and know the product they sell and repair.

That's interesting. It was a long time ago and being just a salesperson I didn't have all the access to dealers info at that time. I know we sold a new coupe under that program and it was in the mid 70's and was a new untitled car. It was sold to a guy in ca who bought it for the sole purpose to race it as he said. I remember my owner saying that we allocated some of the money we got for those two vipers towards making other car deals.

Same here in MD at 6% I'm certain the state makes more than the dealer.

Also, I wish I was within 500 miles of one if the awesome dealers we have on here, like BillP. If I were I'd gladly, or at least without hesitation, pay $1k more for a car from him, knowing the prep and care and contribution involved, no doubt. If only.

Unfortunately I live where the universe sees fit to create a desert of viper support and good dealers. Ugh.

Certain dealers I wouldnt feel bad about them losing money on the car.

Koons and Dulles Dodge, they had a $50,000 and $150,000 ADM respectively.

I hope they never sell their Vipers and eat the entire loss.

But, most dealers I think getting invoice is more than fine - I do feel that they need some profit in the equation.

I asked a dealer in MA to document the invoice & hold back on a left over Launch Edition that they have listed for 115k in inventory & here's what they came up with. I believe original MSRP was 140k; it's obviously a numbered car.

[msrp is 140,490. Invoice is 131,716. Hold back is 4155. Hope this helps.

Making 12k on a dodge seems high; my Lamborghini dealer I bought from only made 1/2 of that, granted it was preowned and not new.
