    TA with nav and radio???

While getting an oil change today I closely looked at a new orange TA in the show room and wow it is much nicer than I thought. BUT as it is mostly a track designed car and Ralph's desire to trim weight, why does it have a nav and radio in the car? Fine for a GTS but in this model?? SRT design team even boast about a 2 Lb. weight savings with a CF cross brace but then add this equipment. Not seeing the logic for a TA? No salesman around at the time to ask but is the screen also for performance info and camera? If so, I can see why its there now.

yes, screen has perf info, gauges, backup camers. Actually, not sure why anyone would want removed since radio/nave weighs so little anyways. Also, remember it is not a ACR-X or even ACR so not a dedicated track car, just base SRT with unique colors, aero bits, firmed up suspension and better brake rotors.

Lastly, remember the TA actually weigh's more than the base SRT and about the same as GTS with track pack.

Exactly it's not a dedicated track car in the same vane as an ACR or ACRX.

Last time I checked, SRT "owned" the Production Track records at 13+ race tracks..... MAYBE THE LOCATIONS ARE ALL PRE-PROGRAMMED INTO THE GPS of the TA ? Would THAT be a hoot for the Automotive Press to pick up on? Imagine if all the major tracks in North America were pre-programmed into the Nav ? !

I bet Chrysler lawyers would be against it........

ps SRT also mentioned the weight savings of tape decals vs Vinyl emblems! Point Taken.....

I drive my TA everyday just like I did my ARC. I like the gps and other parts. It was designed for the track but to drive it there and home not on a trailer.

You might have also noticed the 4 stacked gauges were also missing, compared to the Gen 3/4 models. That is another use for the screen.

Whatever it is, I love my TA. My wife said it wouldn't get as much attention as the ACR did but it gets as much or more attention. But, of course, we are two opposites - she doesn't like the picture taking and all that while I am always amused by it.

I just weighted 50lbs lighter then a 2009 ACR Hard Core this weekend at the first Carolina VOA Dyno day. We used scales on all four corners. The new TA could of weighted 50lbs heavier and I would still love it. Its an Ax-Murderer!

What did the car dyno and what was the correction factor used.

Feels great driving it, 400 miles on car 539hp/493t. I think its more miles to break-in.

I will correct Jeremy a bit since I was the one that did the scaling and did some quick calculations in my head for an on the spot estimate. I don't trust manufacturer's claims on curb weights so I wanted to have a real data comparison between the 2 different as delivered generations of Vipers.

I have now had the time to go back and do accurate calculations. Here are the results:

So per these calculations the 2014 TA is 9 lbs lighter than a 2009 hard core package ACR. Sorry Jeremy that my top of the head calculations were off some.

Big kudos to SRT for deliverying the TA with all of the content for 9 lbs less than a hard core package ACR - which should be the lightest from the factory version of any of the Gen I - IV Vipers. An as delivered weight without fuel of 3253 lbs is fantastic from my perspective. This is real progress from my perspective as an engineer.

    Way to go SRT!!

The TA has 34 ftlbs torque less instead of 30+ more- what gives?

I am going to logg some more miles and then put it back on the dyno. I was expecting higher numbers as well.

Probably due to the issues the Gen V have had within IAT. Consult Jack B's thread on wrapping the intake tubes.

The ACR made 530 and 505 on the first set of dyno pulls. With a long cool down period it put down more the 2nd time on the dyno. I'm sure the TA would have put down more hp with the same cool down.

I was most impressed with the stock ZR1 that put down 573/541 at the wheels.

I need to beat the ZR1's numbers! I wonder if Jeff will put his black TA on the dyno and compare since he has 1500 miles
