Cigarette lighter plug, you push the back part down and it pops up.

Seems that I tried that. Let me go to the garage and try, try again. Thanks!

Nope. Mine does not open. It has a little push to it, but try as I might, it won't open. Is this a known issue?

I have no idea, it might just be a blank that doesn't do anything. Hopefully someone smarter than me chimes in.

I have a cigarette lighter plug in the center console, under the armrest. Would my car have two outlets?

Mine has two in the exact same places as you. Side note I don't have the round thing between the window switch and cigarettes lighter.

The photo posted is a stock photo from Google. My Viper has the tiny little cup-holder, but it does not have a cover like the one shown.

I didn't realize it was a cupholder. Honestly, I don't remember if I have it, but if I do it doesn't have the cover either, which is why I didn't recognize it.

It's really too small to hold anything larger than a RedBull can. It won't hold my cell phone. Maybe toss some change in there for tolls and parking meters?

Push down lightly on the end closest to the E brake handle, it should open. It's a cig lighter that only works with key. The one in the cubby hole works all the time. And pull out the ash tray, even if you smoke, don't do it in the car!!! Then it'll hold a pop can.

I've tried and tried and tried. It won't open. Is mine jammed/broken, or is it possible mine has a blank panel?

I have never seen a thread get to so many posts about the cigarette lighter.

Yes, you press down on the part closest to the E-brake. You push in, and it should pop up (kinda slow). If it does not pop up, get something to pry on it. It is stuck.

    Maybe someone spilled something sticky.

I don't need it open badly enough to put pry-marks on my console. Trust me, I've pushed, pressed, pressed, pushed, poked, prayed, pressed, and pushed again. It won't open. Now that I know what it is, I'm content in leaving it as-is. I just wanted to be sure there wasn't something fun like USB input or automatic machine gun triggers under there. Thanks for the replies!

Well now you'll never know, your Viper could very well be THE one Viper with an automatic machine gun button in your cigarette lighter.

Now I'm curious. Going to get my drill and 3" hole saw.

I don't want to drill a huge hole in my console, so I'm going to put the car on a lift and drop the transmission and go in from underneath.

My buddy and I rolled the car over on the roof, pulled the transmission, hole-sawed into the cabin and got it open. You were right...cigarette lighter and NO weapon systems

So, have you tried pushing it?

I wouldn't be without mine, much easier for plugging a sat nav in than using the one inside the console. I didn't think it was a cig lighter, just a power outlet.

Take the console top off and investigate - it could be a broken spring or a previous owner has glued it shut!!!!! It's an easy job - see the first few pics on this page https://alex.blog/2012/08/21/how-to-...a-dodge-viper/
