    Tire Inflator Frayed Wiring

So in the random, not important category, I came across this mess when I recently replaced the battery in my '08:

Who uses that anyway, right? Well, I do when I go to the drag strip to air my drag radials back up before making the drive home. I've only used it once in this capacity, and it worked well enough. I'm not even sure why I looked at it that closely, but the frayed wires certainly drew my eye. It's not just one or two places either...there are multiple places where the wiring has essentially dry-rotted, leaving the conductors exposed.

Anyone else have this issue? At the end of the day, it isn't a huge deal, and I might see if I can just run new wires, but I'm still a little puzzled as to why this would have happened. I guess I could have burned it on the exhaust or something...who knows.

Any evidence of "creature invasion"...as some like wiring insulation ??

Maybe more likely, cheap product...sort of reminds me of my early days of British sports cars here in Indiana in 1970.

Not that I've found...certainly can't rule it out, but the car spends most of its time in a fairly well sealed, attached garage.
