    pedal commander

anybody have any experience with this? I saw it advertised and the guy in the video testing it on his Charger basically said it took a lot of the hesitation away. just wondering if it really works or are you better off just getting a tune.

I did try this on one of my cars, can't remember which one though, it might have been a non-Viper. Didn't notice anything.

You would put that on your $100k car? That seems like a bad idea. Pedal commander....

Not the pedal commander, but I used the sprint booster on my Audi Rs7. Really helped with the sluggish throttle lag

Yeah, I was thinking Sprint Booster also when I read this. They don't make one for the Viper, but it was great on my 2009 Lancer Ralliart years ago.

Lots of folks use them in the Ram pick up world. Never heard of used on a Viper.

Early on, several tuners used HPT to improve throttle response, however, in many cases they encountered reliability issues. On the other hand, the Arrow HC, PCM was successfully flashed to improve the response.

I have a pedal commander in my Challenger (T/A 392). It's a nice addition because even the sports mode ain't great. Basically, in street mode, it's more or less like stock, but sport mode is more aggressive. Sport+ is brutal (wouldn't recommend using it on a Hellcat unless you really know what you're doing).

Honestly, while it's a good mod to have on the Challenger/Charger, I don't see the point with the Viper. The pedal doesn't lag like the Challenger does.

    Same on my Maserati Ghibli.

So exactly how do these things work? Do they simply ramp up the throttle response from a smaller movement of the pedal? In other words do they make the throttle open more fully more quickly?

I think it's just a voltage amplifier of some sort, tricking the pedal into thinking it's more fully depressed than it actually is. It makes the car "feel" more responsive. It was a life saver for my Audi RS7, which felt sluggish as hell without it

This is what I suspect. It fools the throttle into thinking the pedal is depressed further/faster than it really is.

there are a few different ones out there (sprint booster, peddle commander, Apexi throttle controller etc.). maybe all will work on Vipers or maybe one will, but pedal commander's explanation of how it works is: " You must have noticed that when you want to step on the gas pedal with an intention to overtake a slow-moving car, some seconds pass before your beast reacts. This is because the signal from the pedal first goes to the engine control unit, which eventually sends it to actuator motor for action.
The pedal commander is designed to connect a shortcut between the pedal and the throttle. It bypasses the actuator thus eliminating the delays. That is not the deal. The real deal is in the autonomy to adjust the sensitivity of your gas pedal to your taste. " It sounds good, just not sure if it is worth trying on a Viper.

The one thing to know about the pedal commander is that if you go from say, Sport+ down to Street, the difference is large enough to make the car freak out. This happened to me with the Challenger. Using the Phone App (BT connection), I went from sport+ to street and the car freaked out, went into limp mode. Had to stop and fortunately, I had my OBD2 BT thinggy so I was able to reset the codes.
