Gen 2 Volume Question

No question about it, the Gen II Viper with all stock system is the quietest Viper of them all. The two into one Chrysler muffler is what makes it so quiet. My 64 Lincoln had the same two into one muffler system, you couldn't hear the engine until into high rpms. I now have two free flow Magnaflows in the back and cat delete [ had too, side sill paint started on fire due to excessive fuel in the cat ] still have the resonators. It's still pretty quiet at cruising speeds, only drone in the cabin when I start going the 6% grade up to my house.
You should be pleased with an all stock exhaust Gen II Viper.

As long as you run cats of some sort, and retain the resonators in the side sills, you will be OK for volume level. Dropping the rear muffler and going to an x- or h-pipe makes for a nicer overall sound, without being obnoxious in any way. One of the hardest things on your ears in a viper is removing the resonators.

Yes, keeping the resonators is good. Here's my car now with cat delete, resonators and the Magnaflows in the back. No problem with controlled decibel levels required on the track.

I agree the GenII is much too quiet stock. I went M&M headers, with 3" SS straight to the back(cat delete) with a magnaflo resonator on each pipe at the rear. That's all I got for muffling. Now it's loud. Quite loud. But not too bad if you're just cruising around not stomping on it.

I'm with you on that. Prefer exhausts in the back vs sides. If you ever heard some boats like Searay Pachanga and some others with side exhaust, they sound terrible. I have twin engines in my boat with through transom exhausts. They sound great,even though they're only sbc 6.2's.

It's just a Personal Preference, I did the muffler delete & Hated it, to me it sounded like I had a hole in my muffler! I ended up putting a Flowmaster on it & TO ME it sounds Sooooooo much better! But, like I said it's just a Personal Preference!

I can say that my stock 2000 ACR was extremely quiet. Cruising on the freeway, you could hear the tip in whistle created by the throttle blades opening. Very much a gentleman’s car. Not sure if the 2000 + cars had any running differences in updated insulation or exhaust updates but the slightly shorter duration cam and high bleed down lifters may be a contributing factor in its quietness.
