I bought a bag of 100 zip ties a few years but I only needed one, LOL. They're cheap. I remember seeing similar videos about this a couple of years ago. This tip is relatively easy to do and cheap insurance.

If my alarm is set and the garage door is opened it immediately goes off

Both my garage doors have electronic deadbolts in the track. Came as a part of my jack-shaft opener installation. I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

Police response is usually a few long minutes before response to a house alarm, in 1 minute you can lose a lot to a thief. The electric deadbolts are the way to go, alarms alone just don't cut it anymore.

Good info. I'm hoping the electric gates won't let them get that close to the garage.

I may be wrong here, but if you don't have windows in your garage door, how are they going to see where your latch is???

Notice this door has windows making it that much easier to see in and hook. Most doors do not have these windows. What I did on mine (if gone for more than usual) is simply drill a 1/2 inch hole in the slider frame inside and then I place a lock thru the hole when gone. This prevents the door from opening at all from either outside or inside. The only down side to this is you have to lock it and then go outside via another door to leave by car. And remember NOT to use the remote when you get back as the motor or chain drive could be damaged trying to open the door. It is worth it if you have expensive cars in there.
