For some reason I could put it in reverse and it would move, but when I shifted to drive I would get a message telling me to "Put gear into Park, then shift to Drive". That did absolutely nothing as in drive the engine would rev but would not move.
Had to turn the Jeep off, open the door, close the door, and start the whole process again and everything worked. I guess this is a safety feature for people not to have a vehicle drive over them if they left the vehicle, walked in front of it...while still in gear. While as stupid as that sounds...
Jeep has added a feature (and you can turn it off) that when you come to a stop light or are in heavy traffic that if your foot is on the brake for a certain period of time the engine will turn off to save gas. When you take your foot off the brake the engine will start, and if you are in gear with your foot off the brake you will start moving forward. This is easily disabled on the dash until your turn the Jeep off, then it resets to be active until you turn it off again. So hypothetically someone could pull into their driveway, sit with their foot on the brake, vehicle turns off, they do not realize what is going on, get out (yeah I know...) and potentially have the vehicle move without them in it.
