Whats your preferred oil

ive heard mixed opinions.. ive been using the factory fill but ive heard others like amsoil, royal purple or mobile one.. any reason you prefer one over the other for our cars?

I live in SoCal so I run Redline 15W50 year round. I change my oil a lot and this stuff is very reasonably priced for what you get.

If you are asking about Gen V Vipers...it's Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 0W-40 SRT.

It seems to me that Pennzoil has had this product in 2-3 different containers in the last 3-4 years. Look for the Chrysler MS code on the container and match that to your owner' s manual...MS-12633.

Yes I have. He prefers M1. If you press him on it, he will tell you how a lot of the other companies around simply don't have the budgets of the big boys like Mobil, to really have the kind of testing and QC and so he does not favour them. He seemed quite adamant about this when I spoke to him.

+1 for M1 15-50. I ran factory fill for the first 20K miles. The Mobil one is cheaper and there doesn't seem to be as much drivetrain noise. I have about 1500 miles on it now and I don't see myself going back to P 0-40. I can't speak for track duty, but with daily driving and hard mountain runs, no issues to report.

And always always keep an eye on your oil levels. For many cars, like my own, in their early life they like to drink oil at an alarming rate sometimes, particularly when the car is used predominantly on track....

We are in the process of testing Liqui Moly engine oil, and are going to putting it in our engines here at Prefix.
This is a Europe based company and should be no problem for you guys on the other side of the pond!
Mobil 1 is always a good option as well!!

lot of companies use thinner oils nowadays to get that extra 1 mpg. If you live in the south where it never gets really cold you can get away with running thicker oil. If you are running it on the track, the thicker oil wont thin out as easily with heat

I've been using the factory recommended Pennzoil 0-40W synthetic. I buy it from Amazon. My car burns virtually no oil.

Like others said there are a few reasons, MPG, What company paid the most for the oil contract, etc... As far as what Chrysler officially recommends and what the engine guys actually recommend unofficially are different. The Chrysler engine builders suggested a 50 weight oil to me directly when I took the plant tour, and I personally have started using Mobil 1 - 5w50. If your climate is warm you can get away with 15w50 or 20w50 and they are cheaper and easier to find in general. I could probably go with 15w50 but I drive mine year round and would rather have the 5w50 for peace of mind on those few days when it might get cold in the winter. Always Full Synthetic of course.
