Porsche 919, unbelievable 5:19!! 50 seconds faster than Stefan Bellof.

    Happened today.

    Onboard footage is just unreal...

Hard to fathom how that guy can fit in that car. It must have a custom seat with a special compartment to hold his HUGE balls.

Wild watching how blistering fast that car could go through turns, and yet, I sat watching and wishing that the car could grab another gear or two going down the back straight lol.

Anyone notice the power loss at the tail end? I suppose that is due to the inability of using regenerative braking on that section of track.

I'm lucky enough to have attended two Rudolph Carraciola events at the 'ring and as a result both my cars have seen action there. I swear that by being aggressive but careful, and determined but terrified the best time I managed was 20 minutes. We were doing a bit of the GP track as well though, so maybe it was 30 minutes... I didn't time myself as I knew it would be slow and I didn't want to know, I was there to have fun (which we achieved!) Whatever drugs this guy is on he needs to have his dosage reduced because that is mental. Even so, I find this to be more entertaining: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6Thomd4BQg.

Michelin is mentioned as a sponsor at the end of the video. Insane fast ride.

missing part of the footage Porsche didnt want you to see

Might want to clarify this isnt a legal race spec 919. This is the 919 evo basically the 919 with all the performance robbing WEC rules removed. Now it has no limit on fuel flow rate (big increase in power), stronger electrical motors, much more downforce, drag reduction system, etc

car is constantly regenerating hybrid power during braking, these cars race for 6 or 24 hours straight

Nobody cares that the car doesn't fit the constraints of some sanctioning body. Someone was able to stay on the ground and lap the ring in 5:19.

That in itself is an incredible feat! Makes you wonder how much more entertaining racing would be if there were no ruling bodies enforcing rules....
Thanks for the info on that car ForTehNguyen. Do they lose much power as the racing goes on??
