Woops!
Woops!
If you pilot a pace car it would help if you knew how to drive.
Mark Reuss, the GM exec who was driving the ZR-1, is actually a very experienced driver that obviously made a mistake. He is embarrassed and released a pretty classy statement.
He has paced several races in Z06's and is a certified pool test driver at Nurburgring. Also a licensed FIA c and IMSA Road Racing driver. Not unskilled or inexperienced. It just looks like he went over a rise on the track and kept his foot in it too long, probably after turning the nannies off.
Well this thread didn't go the way I thought it would!
If that had been a Viper getting out of shape it would have been all over the other forums with people blaming the car!
don't know why he had to apologise, good lord we have become pansys in fear of people judgeing us, he lost it,so what, thats what can happen on a race track. no way in hell I would have, shit happens
... gave me a chuckle .... and I will NOT apologize for it ...
He's an exec at GM and driving the new 2019 baby. He wrecked it. That's got to be embarrassing.
Was there a little track irregularity that contributed? I guess, sure, possibly...
Could it happen to anyone? NOPE, no way. The stability control on these cars are top notch and in non-inclement weather, I just don’t think you could make the car do that. So, then the question is, how much arrogance or bravado does it require to motivate you to turn off said NANNIES because you are just “that good” while doing a pacing lap that requires neither high speed or high-g turning to meet IndyCar requirements?
Stooge should have 1) left the nannies on like a good GM exec, 2) been a better driver, or 3) had a better engineered handling car underneath him. It may be one of the above or a combination of them...my .02
Nice run.
